Show job description

GBM is a global music rights management, publishing, and distribution company supporting record labels, music publishers, artists, songwriters, composers, producers, and rights holders across international markets.

Our services include music publishing administration, mechanical and performance rights, neighbouring rights, global royalty collection, catalogue management, copyright protection, synchronisation licensing, metadata administration, and digital music distribution.

Through our international network of collection societies, licensing partners, and digital platforms, we help music creators and rights holders protect their copyrights, recover royalties, and maximise the commercial value of their music worldwide.

Our operations also cover historical royalty recovery, backdated royalty claims, copyright infringement monitoring, and international rights administration.

About the Role

GBM is seeking a well-connected music industry professional to lead our business development and market expansion activities across Egypt, based in Cairo.

This is a full-time hybrid position, working Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Cairo local time), suited to someone already actively involved in Egypt's music, media, entertainment, publishing, recorded music, or music rights industry.

We are interested in candidates with established professional relationships across Egyptian and Arabic music, major and independent record labels, music publishers, artist management companies, music production houses, film and television production companies, and digital music businesses.

We are looking for a highly self-driven, commercially focused industry professional who can independently identify opportunities, establish relationships, negotiate partnerships, and convert prospects into long-term clients.

The successful candidate will take ownership of GBM's business development activities in Egypt, strengthen our presence in Cairo and other key music markets, establish strategic partnerships, and introduce our international music rights management, publishing, royalty collection, and distribution services to Egyptian music creators and rights holders.

The role also involves identifying opportunities for GBM's wider expansion across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) through relationships developed within Egypt's music industry.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead GBM's business development and market expansion activities across the Egyptian music industry.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with record labels, music publishers, production companies, independent artists, composers, producers, artist managers, distributors, and catalogue owners.
  • Independently identify business opportunities, generate leads, pitch GBM's services, negotiate commercial arrangements, and convert prospects into signed clients.
  • Develop strategic partnerships across Egyptian pop, Arabic pop, Mahraganat, Shaabi, hip-hop, independent music, film soundtracks, and other established and emerging Egyptian music sectors.
  • Identify commercial opportunities involving music publishing administration, mechanical and performance royalties, neighbouring rights, historical royalty recovery, catalogue monetisation, and global digital distribution.
  • Establish and maintain professional connections with Egyptian music industry organisations, copyright and collective management bodies, trade associations, licensing organisations, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to support Egyptian record labels, publishers, producers, and catalogue owners seeking stronger international royalty collection and rights administration.
  • Develop relationships with music businesses across Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, and other relevant Egyptian markets.
  • Explore commercial partnerships with regional music companies, labels, publishers, and rights holders operating across the wider MENA music industry.
  • Support client onboarding, commercial negotiations, catalogue evaluation, and coordination with GBM's international operations and rights management teams.
  • Represent GBM at local and international music conferences, industry networking events, showcases, festivals, trade exhibitions, and business meetings.
  • Monitor Egyptian and regional music industry developments, emerging talent, catalogue acquisition opportunities, market trends, and potential commercial partnerships.
  • Maintain an organised business development pipeline, provide regular progress reports, and take responsibility for achieving agreed market development objectives.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new commercial opportunities that contribute to GBM's long-term growth and market position in Egypt.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is currently active in Egypt's music, entertainment, publishing, distribution, recording, or music rights management industry.
  • Has an established professional network and direct access to relevant decision-makers within the Egyptian music industry.
  • Has experience working with record labels, music production companies, music publishers, composers, artists, managers, producers, or catalogue owners.
  • Understands the commercial structure of Egypt's music industry, including mainstream Arabic music, independent music, film and television soundtracks, digital streaming, and music distribution.
  • Has demonstrated experience in business development, client acquisition, industry partnerships, label relations, publishing, licensing, or music rights management.
  • Is confident approaching senior decision-makers, pitching professional services, negotiating agreements, and securing new business.
  • Is highly self-motivated, resourceful, commercially driven, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Has a practical understanding of music copyright, publishing royalties, neighbouring rights, catalogue management, licensing, or digital distribution.
  • Understands the importance of international royalty collection and copyright administration for Egyptian music rights holders.
  • Communicates professionally in Arabic and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has an understanding of the wider MENA music market and the commercial opportunities available to Egyptian music businesses internationally.
  • Is comfortable collaborating with an international management team across different time zones.
  • Is willing to travel nationally and internationally when required for approved business activities.

We welcome candidates who have previously worked in label partnerships, artist relations, music publishing, licensing, music distribution, or commercial roles within Egypt's established music industry.
