Universal Pictures International (UPI) owns and operates direct theatrical marketing and distribution of feature films in many locations around the globe including Austria, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Switzerland and UK & Eire. In other territories UPI market and distribute movies through its JV offices, as well as in select territories, licensees who are contracted to distribute on UPl's behalf as well as production operations, a leading television stations group, and world-renowned theme parks. The core responsibility of the National Trade Marketing Lead is to ensure UPI films (Universal and Warner Bros. priority titles) have a strong presence in cinemas and are well promoted across all cinema owned communication channels. Working directly with the Head of Trade Marketing & Partnerships ANZ, this role will prepare product presentations and negotiate with exhibitors to develop promotions to drive cinema marketing for UPI films, including both Warner Bros. and Universal films. The executive will maintain a strong working relationship with all exhibitor marketing teams. Cinema Marketing Strategies Working closely with the Head of Partnerships ANZ to formulate exhibition marketing strategies for major chains. Supporting Head of Partnerships ANZ to present quarterly product updates and plans with Event, Village, Hoyts, including creating and presenting film fact slides for an allocated portfolio of films. Additionally secondary chains as required. Negotiate asset placements and for in-theatre marketing campaigns and specialised exhibitor initiatives. Support independent cinemas on allocated films as the general point of contact, pre-book incentives, merchandise giveaways, marketing ideas/concepting or Preview/GNO events and social co-op opportunities where required. Liaise with media team prior quarterly product updates for any insights on social co-op activity for allocated portfolio of films to inform exhibitors in strategy meetings. Liaison between Sales and Marketing for effective Tickets on Sale strategies and clear communication for any eventised TOS dates. General point of contact for exhibition marketing enquiries and rerouting enquiries through to media or sales as appropriate, i.e. Sales for bundling/ticketing, media for all film social media campaigns. Cinema Marketing Materials Conceptualising and briefing key trade marketing materials for production and routing for approval. Develop and manage bespoke assets and activations such as photo walls, corridor takeovers, light projections, stunts, IMAX takeovers, special events. Nominate and order promotional materials produced by studios and partners eg, standees, merchandise, concessions. Review and approve all assets developed by exhibitors for marketing and promotion such as TOS assets and website banners for portfolio of films. Content Placement Ensure the timely development, delivery and placement of assets and content including in theatre materials, co-branded content pieces, digital and social assets, to maximise all exhibitor communication platforms. Liaise with exhibitiors on latest material and social assets available for specialised opportunities. Work with Media leads on contra placements and reciprocal media tagging. Publicity Opportunities Work closely with Publicists to maximise talent access for on screen ID’s, meet and greets and content creation. Trade Events Represent Universal and Warner Bros. at AIMC and CAA industry events. Assist in the development of presentations and curation and rehearsing events as required. Brief, budget and monitor production of trade event materials. Attend trade presentations, PR events, premieres, panels and industry educational forums. Budgets and Reports Prepare and manage trade marketing budgets. Deliver studio campaign deck reports and mock ups as required. Prepare post campaign reports on campaign activity – including performance of promotions, presale results etc. Preparation of the Cinema Marketing Guide for nominated titles. Meeting Attendance Participate in weekly Sales meetings. Attend weekly marketing and creative meetings. Meet and communicate regularly with NZ exhibition marketing team and to support initiatives with Hoyts. Attend regular Exhibition Marketing work in progress meetings. Participate in Marketing brainstorms and planning activity and build cinema promotions and programs. Basic Requirements: Proven and successful background in trade marketing, B2B or marketing within the entertainment industry Understanding of marketing fundamentals is essential Understanding of the exhibition landscape / terminology would be favourable Exhibits professionalism and confidence in presenting in boardroom settings Attention to detail is critical Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders Proficient in Powerpoint and Excel Strong negotiation skills Digital knowledge and experience would be looked on favourably Ability to work on own initiative and within team a environment Impeccable administration and highly organised Efficient and proven ability to multi-task several projects at one time prioritising against multiple deadlines Highly creative Tact, discretion and confidentiality Desired Characteristics: You must have the right to work in Australia i.e have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency Tertiary education in communications or marketing-based discipline Passion and knowledge of the film industry.
