POSITION DETAILS
1099 Contract: Native Spanish-Language InDesign Localization Specialist
Work Location: ☒ Remote
Work Schedule: Flexible remote schedule with agreed availability for project coordination and review
Start Date: Week of 11/2 (most likely toward the end of the week)
End Date: Mid December 2026 with possibility of going into January
Number of Hours: Full time (may have a little bit of ramp up and some breaks during client reviews but will mostly be full time)
AllenComm plans to use AI to translate existing InDesign files directly within the course files into Spanish. A native-language contractor is needed to validate the translated content and make InDesign formatting and layout updates required for the localized courses to display and function correctly. Planning assumes translated text may expand approximately 30% compared with the English source.
Summary of Duties
Review AI-translated courses and prepare the localized files for final QA and delivery. The contractor will validate the translation as a native speaker and make formatting and layout adjustments caused by translated text expansion InDesign.
• Confirm terminology, instructions, labels, navigation text, and learner-facing content accurately reflect the English source.
• Adjust InDesign layouts to accommodate an estimated 30% text expansion.
• Resolve text overflow, clipping, wrapping, spacing, font sizing, button and label fit, and other visual issues created by localization.
• Review the completed course in context to confirm all learner-facing translated content is readable and displayed correctly.
• Flag unclear source meaning or terminology rather than making unsupported assumptions.
Required Skills / Qualifications
• Native speaker of the target language with strong English proficiency.
• Experience in InDesign, reviewing, editing, or validating translated/localized content.
• Ability to edit, text, layouts, formatting, buttons, labels, and slide elements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to compare translated content against English source material.
• Ability to work within existing course files without changing functionality or design unnecessarily.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
• Previous eLearning localization experience.
• Familiarity with accessibility considerations in digital learning.
• Experience validating AI-generated translations.
