Vandis is hiring a Network Automation Engineer to help deliver professional service projects for enterprise customers, building on solid networking fundamentals and a hunger to grow in automation.
About Vandis and the role
Vandis, Inc. is a managed services and IT solutions provider based in Albertson, NY. We design, secure and run networks for enterprise and commercial customers, and automation is a growing part of that work.
You will join our engineering team as a hands-on delivery engineer on network automation projects. You will work alongside senior engineers who scope and lead engagements, and you will own well-defined pieces of the work: onboarding devices, building and testing automation workflows, and documenting what you ship. This is a role for someone who wants to build real depth in network automation while delivering customer-facing projects.
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, NOC or network operations
- Strong networking fundamentals: BGP, OSPF, VLANs and switching, plus working knowledge of firewalls and SD-WAN concepts
- Ability to read, troubleshoot and template device configs from Cisco, Fortinet or similar vendors
- Basic scripting or automation exposure (Python, Ansible, REST APIs, JSON/YAML), or a demonstrated drive to learn it
- Clear written communication and the discipline to document your work
- A CCNA or equivalent knowledge; a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- Ability to work with customers on scheduled changes, including occasional after-hours windows
Nice to have
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows and DevOps practices
- Prior exposure to a network automation or orchestration platform (such as Cisco NSO, NetBox, Ansible Tower, or Gluware)
- Experience with Cisco SD-WAN, FortiGate or Azure networking
- CCNP, NSE or Azure networking certifications, or a plan to earn one
- Experience in an MSP, consulting or customer-facing delivery environment
