To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City. About The Role The Bureau of Maternal, Infant and Reproductive Health is seeking a Hub Regional Coordinator to conduct outreach and engagement activities to reproductive health care providers interested or included in the referral network for the New York Abortion Access Hub. The Coordinator will focus primarily on New York State regions and counties outside of New York City. This role involves understanding the sexual and reproductive health care access landscape, especially abortion care, in target regions as well identifying and reaching out to community-based organizations, educational institutions and other stakeholders to raise awareness about the Hub across New York State. About the Program After the Supreme Court eliminated federal protections for abortion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization , the NYC Health Department launched a series of programs designed to protect and promote abortion access in New York City, including the Abortion Access Hub, which opened on November 1, 2022. The Hub is the first centralized, municipally funded navigation and referral helpline for people coming from anywhere seeking abortion information and care in New York City. We are expanding the Hub’s referral network to include abortion providers in the rest of New York State to create a statewide referral Hub. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Provider Partnerships, identify and reach out to prospective clinical partners to introduce the services of the Hub, assess interest and capacity in being part of the Hub’s referral network, and understand and document their clinical abortion and navigation processes. With the rest of the Hub team, meet with partners every 2-3 months to coordinate and communicate about their clinical and navigation protocols and share any feedback from Hub navigators. Participate in virtual meetings for all partners to communicate any relevant local, state or federal updates and resources. Complete in-person visits to new, current and prospective partners. In collaboration with the NYC Health Department team who works on abortion access initiatives, participate in the planning and implementation of an in-person convening for Hub partners. Attend recurring internal and interagency meetings on abortion access initiatives. Together with other NYC Health Department colleagues, establish and maintain relationships with key local organizations, community partners and educational institutions to promote the Hub across New York State. Assist with the distribution of marketing materials to current and prospective Hub partners and other stakeholders to increase Hub visibility and promote destigmatizing conversations about abortion. Work with partners to share materials with their patients and colleagues. Help with the preparation of presentations and other written materials for internal and external audiences. Other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and mission of the department/organization. Requirements A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in provider or community engagement activities related to the duties described above; OR an associate’s degree from an accredited college and four years of experience in provider or community engagement activities related to the duties described above. Commitment to reproductive rights and justice preferred. Knowledge of community-based, local stakeholders in New York State outside of New York City preferred. Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong written and interpersonal communication skills. Detail oriented and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
