Next-Generation Access Control Platform with Cisco ISE Internship

Context:

As organizations continue to embrace hybrid work models, mobility, and zero-trust security principles, secure network access has become a critical component of enterprise infrastructure. Modern wireless networks must provide seamless connectivity while ensuring that users, devices, and applications are properly authenticated, authorized, and monitored.

To address growing customer demand for secure and intelligent network access solutions, NTT is expanding its expertise and demonstration capabilities around Cisco Enterprise Networking & Security technologies. Building practical use cases and demonstration environments will help customers better understand the business value and technical capabilities of these solutions.

Topic:

Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), together with Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) and enterprise WiFi solutions, enables organizations to implement centralized network access control, network segmentation, guest access services, BYOD onboarding, and security policy enforcement across wired and wireless infrastructures.

Your mission will consist of learning, evaluating, and implementing the Cisco Identity and Enterprise WiFi ecosystem in order to create a complete and repeatable demonstration platform.

You will design and document enterprise use cases covering secure user authentication, device onboarding, guest access management, network segmentation, policy-based access control, and secure wireless connectivity.

You will then deploy a fully functional Cisco ISE and Wireless infrastructure within NTT's internal laboratory environment, integrating wireless controllers, access points, authentication services, and enterprise security policies. The resulting platform will become a customer-facing demo center that can be used by our teams to showcase the capabilities and benefits of modern enterprise networking and secure access solutions.

What you’ll be doing:

• Enterprise campus and wireless networking architectures
• Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) deployment and administration
• Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) configuration and operations
• Enterprise WiFi design principles and best practices
• Network Access Control (NAC), 802.1X authentication, and Zero Trust concepts
• Guest WiFi, BYOD onboarding, posture assessment, and policy enforcement
• Network segmentation and access control using security policies
• Integration of ISE with Active Directory, RADIUS, TACACS+, and other enterprise services
• Development of customer-focused business and technical use cases
• Documentation of deployment procedures, architecture diagrams, and operational guides
• Building and maintaining a demonstration environment for customer workshops and presentations
• Analysis of the benefits, challenges, and operational considerations of enterprise access control and wireless solutions

You will be part of the “Secure Networking & Cybersecurity Practice” global team, composed of experienced network & security engineers either deploying technical solution and services on customer premises (Technical Services team), or managing client infrastructures hosted on shared platforms (Managed Services team).

During the internship, you will receive the support of a dedicated engineer as well as the team leader to guide you while defining the approach and milestones. You will also have the opportunity to participate in all the team meetings and activities, which will enable you to be immersed in the professional world and to be faced with day-to-day challenges encountered in the work environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

• 5th year of a master’s degree or similar

• Familiar with traditional networking standards and concepts

• Strong interest in global technology, security, encryption and virtualization in particular
• Having knowledge of scripting language (e.g. bash, python…) would be considered as an asset
• Fluency in spoken and written in English is mandatory, and additional languages will be an asset
• Demonstrating problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Be capable of working both independently and as part of a fast-moving team
• Having a relevant work experience (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs, or first work experience) would be considered as an asset
