The NMTC Portfolio & Compliance Associate keeps that program running smoothly: monitoring the health of projects in our portfolio, making sure borrowers stay on track with their reporting, turning project data into clear impact and regulatory reports, and providing hands-on administrative support to the team. The role is a mix of analytical and administrative work. A significant part of the job is coordination: managing documents, tracking deadlines, scheduling, and keeping files and systems organized. It's a great fit for someone with strong communication and organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and comfort with numbers. You'll juggle multiple reporting deadlines and relationships with borrowers, investors, and partners, working independently as you learn the role. Experience from a bank, SBA lender, CDFI, or similar lending environment translates well. Prior NMTC experience is not required. We will teach you the program. Review construction draw requests and supporting documentation, working with the team and outside partners to resolve questions. Prepare and submit required investor reports accurately and on time to meet all reporting requirements. Track deadlines in Salesforce, follow up on outstanding items, and keep status notes current. Impact & Regulatory Reporting Prepare and distribute annual community impact surveys to borrowers, collect responses, and analyze the results (jobs, services, community outcomes) for AOF, investors, and the CDFI Fund. Support required reporting to the CDFI Fund, taking ownership over time, including coordinating with partner organizations on shared projects. Pipeline & Closing Support Conduct initial screening of prospective projects, including entering project information in Salesforce and communicating with project sponsors and consultants. Support loan closings by organizing legal and due diligence documents, gathering signatures, and setting up reporting templates for newly closed projects. Conduct post-closing orientation calls with borrowers Assist with the NMTC allocation application. Administrative & Team Support Provide day-to-day administrative support to the NMTC team, including document management, filing in Salesforce and SharePoint, marketing support, scheduling, and meeting coordination. Coordinate NMTC Advisory Board meetings, including logistics, materials, and minutes. Help keep program materials such as project summaries, website content, and presentations up to date. Find ways to make our processes more efficient (for example, streamlining tracking and reminders in Salesforce) and keep procedures documented. Take part in occasional project site visits. MUST HAVES: Bachelor's degree (preferably in business, finance, accounting, real estate, or a related field), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 1–3 years of experience in an area such as commercial or small business lending (bank, SBA lender, or CDFI), loan or credit administration, portfolio monitoring, compliance, grants/contract administration or nonprofit program support. Ability to read financial statements and calculate basic financial ratios. Strong Excel skills (formulas, sorting and filtering, pivot tables) and comfort working with data. Experience with Salesforce or another CRM/database. Excellent time management, organization and attention to detail; comfortable handling a high volume of administrative tasks and multiple deadlines at once. Project management experience is a plus. Clear, professional written and verbal communication, and comfort working with outside partners. Sound judgment, discretion with confidential information, and a good sense of when to escalate. Commitment to our mission and to expanding economic opportunity in underserved communities. NICE TO HAVES: Experience with covenant monitoring, risk ratings, or construction draw reviews.
