NOC Engineer – IP & Optical Backbone (Buenos Aires · Hybrid)

About the role

We are hiring a NOC Engineer to join the operations team of a Tier 1 global Internet backbone provider. Our client runs one of the largest and most reliable backbones in the world: 30+ years in the market, network presence in 100+ countries and 2,900+ customers, including telecom operators, hyperscalers, cloud providers and digital platforms.

You will monitor and troubleshoot a global IP and optical network, own incidents end to end and keep traffic flowing for some of the biggest networks on the Internet.

What you will do

• Monitor the network across IP and transmission platforms (including xWDM), sites and owned and leased fiber

• Act on service-impacting and potentially service-impacting alarms

• Troubleshoot faults and outages and resolve them at first line whenever possible

• Own incidents from detection to restoration

• Work with hardware vendors, field support and third-party network providers during troubleshooting

• Track SLA commitments and coordinate resolution across teams

• Act as SPOC during planned maintenance and outages

• Write root cause analyses, outage reports and clear incident documentation

• Configure and improve NOC monitoring tools and processes

What you bring

• 3 to 5+ years in a NOC or similar network operations environment

• Strong troubleshooting skills on IP and/or transmission platforms

• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, QoS and xWDM

• CCNP Enterprise level knowledge (for IP-focused profiles) or equivalent hands-on experience

• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools, incident handling and fault management

• Comfortable working in Linux and Windows environments

• Advanced English, written and spoken, for daily work with international teams

• Ownership and good judgment under time pressure

Nice to have

• Telecom or carrier background (ISP, backbone, transport)

• Scripting in Python or Bash

• Experience configuring or improving NOC monitoring tools

• Experience in international environments
