Role Description The Non-Executive Board Member role is a contract, remote position responsible for contributing strategic guidance, governance, and oversight to AI20 Global Alliance. On a day-to-day basis, the Board Member will review board papers, participate in virtual board and committee meetings, and provide independent perspectives on strategy, risk, ethics, and long-term value creation. The role includes advising on global partnerships, AI policy and regulation, and initiatives that promote responsible innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth. The Board Member will support leadership in setting organizational priorities, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and ensuring alignment with the UAE’s and international AI strategies. The position does not involve operational management but requires active engagement, constructive challenge, and mentorship for executive leaders when appropriate.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in board governance, strategic oversight, and risk management within technology, AI, or related sectors.
- Strong background in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, or innovation ecosystems, with insight into global AI trends and policy frameworks.
- Proven ability to build and sustain international partnerships, engage diverse stakeholders, and operate effectively across cultures and regions.
- Track record of ethical leadership, commitment to responsible AI, and understanding of sustainability and long-term impact in technology initiatives.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide independent judgment and constructive challenge.
- Prior non-executive, advisory, or senior executive experience in large organizations, alliances, or public–private partnerships is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with the MENA region and global innovation hubs (e.g., London, New York, Silicon Valley) and comfort working in a remote, distributed environment.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., technology, public policy, business, law, or economics) or equivalent senior-level experience is preferred.
