Location: Los Angeles, CA

Type: Contract

Department: Content

Your Role

One episode could be someone’s first step toward faith in Jesus. You make it worth watching through clear audio, professional video, and compelling conversations.

Own hands-on production for three weekly @JohnnyChangLive shows: Bible Class, Spiritual Mentorship Class, and the Unlearned Wisdom podcast. You’ll personally handle most day-to-day production, from planning through release, including independently running shoots and livestreams.

Editors, marketing, brand collaborators, and a podcast agency support the work. “Lead” means owning quality and execution, not overseeing a large staff. Success is measured through reliable production, effective coordination, and growth.

What You'll Own

  • Own the production calendar and on-time delivery of all three shows.

  • Develop episode concepts and own guest sourcing, outreach, follow-up, booking, pre-interviews, scheduling, releases, and Johnny’s outline.

  • Personally run shoots and livestreams, including cameras, audio, lighting, software, recording backups, and troubleshooting.

  • Shape conversations in real time: build guest trust, catch missed moments, respect boundaries, and call for clean retakes.

  • Coordinate marketing, editors, brand collaborators, and the podcast agency through clear owners, deadlines, and feedback.

  • Approve finished episodes and ensure episodes and editor-produced clips are reviewed before publishing.

  • Deliver incoming brand partnerships from planning through approval and release.

  • Develop creative ideas to grow the shows, turn them into actionable tests, and personally drive execution. Use performance data to measure results and improve what works.

What Success Looks Like in Your First 60 Days

1. Operations

  • Release all three shows on schedule and have four upcoming guest shoots confirmed by Day 60.

  • By Day 30, consistently follow equipment-check and recording-backup procedures for every show, with zero recordings lost to setup errors.

  • By Day 30, consistently complete pre-publication checks for correct files, titles, captions, links, and scheduling across episodes and clips.

2. Leadership

  • Learn our existing systems.

  • Understand each team member's responsibilities and active tasks.

  • By Day 30, independently manage the team using our existing systems.

  • Keep deliverables on schedule.

  • Ensure episode and clip reviews happen before publishing.

  • Suggest and implement improvements to our systems where you see a clear need.

3. Growth

  • Establish the performance baseline by Day 14.

  • Lead two evidence-backed tests by Day 60. Show clear audience growth across all platforms.

  • Track every brand partnership and deliver each approved integration on time.

This Role Is Not for You If

  • This would be your first time producing a video podcast or interview show from planning through release.

  • Live technical problems make you freeze or lose composure.

  • You prefer staying behind the camera to leading people and shaping the show.

  • Detailed instructions are necessary before you act.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

  • Based in Los Angeles and available in studio three days each week, currently Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday.

  • At least three years producing video podcasts or interview shows from planning through release, with a portfolio demonstrating your ownership and results.

  • Strong storytelling, interviewing, and relationship-building skills, including pre-interviews that uncover compelling stories.

  • A strong visual eye and hands-on skills in framing, camera angles, lighting, and set design. You bring creative ideas without waiting for instructions.

  • Proven leadership across employees, freelancers, or agency partners.

  • Hands-on experience with Sony A7S III cameras or similar, ATEM Mini Pro ISO, RODECaster Pro II, audio, and lighting.

  • Proficiency running multicamera livestreams with OBS and Streamlabs, switching cameras, and troubleshooting calmly while keeping broadcasts running.

  • Working proficiency with Adobe Premiere, Google Drive, and a project management tool such as ClickUp.

  • Proficient with AI tools, while bringing independent judgment and production skills.

Compensation

Compensation: $7,000–$9,000 per month, based on demonstrated production, creative, and leadership experience. Exceptional candidates can start at $9,000. Includes a written performance and compensation review at 60 days. Once a performance baseline has been established, a performance-based bonus structure will also be implemented.

Our Core Values

  1. Keep God First. We focus on the gospel and how it can impact people's lives.

  2. Radical Accountability. We own outcomes, not intentions. You come with solutions, not problems.

  3. Move with Urgency and Discipline. We act quickly on the most impactful work and make calculated decisions with incomplete information.

  4. Committed to Systems and Processes. We build systems so excellence does not depend on memory.

  5. Embody Grace for Each Other. Speak honestly and address issues directly, while remembering that everything comes through grace.
