Job Title: Nurse Practice Manager

Location: Hybrid, including national site visits and mandatory bi-annual staff retreats in Durham, NC; travel 4-8 times per year total. Candidate may live nationwide.

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Background:

Family Connects (FC) is an independent 501c3 non-profit, that provides training, implementation support, and national leadership for the expansion of the evidenced-based Family Connects Model, developed at Duke University. The Family Connects model is a community-based program supporting new parents in caring for their newborns, offering physical assessments of the postpartum person and infant, addressing questions about caring for a newborn, providing supportive guidance, and helping them access any needed community services or resources.  

Position Summary:

The Nurse Practice Manager is responsible for managing assigned components of the Family Connects Model, including nurse onboarding and education, implementation support, competency evaluation, quality assurance activities, and nursing communities of practice. The Manager serves as a subject matter expert and strategic partner to Family Connects sites, ensuring fidelity to the model, and supporting successful implementation across diverse communities. The position supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing education initiatives, contributes to ANCC-compliant educational planning processes and participates in continuous improvement efforts that enhance nurse competency, program quality, and site performance. Success in this role requires strong leadership, project management, and relationship-building skills, as well as expertise in maternal and infant health, adult learning principles, and program implementation.

Key Deliverables:

  • Champion and fully learn all aspects of the Family Connects model, with particular focus on the Family Connects home visiting protocol reflected in the current program implementation manual

  • Assist in developing, planning, and delivering nursing education for FC sites and site staff

  • Lead and/or assist in orienting, educating, and evaluating nurses in the Family Connects Model

  • Serve as Nurse Planner for nursing education in compliance with ANCC policies and protocols

  • Utilize web-based communication and learning methodologies

  • Conduct quality assurance in-person site visits per FC protocol

  • Update education resources, documents, and other education tools and manage the internal document storage system

  • Collaborate with the Family Connects team to provide site support and nursing assistance related to ensuring fidelity to the model

  • Ability to co/facilitate organized meetings, internally and externally

  • Lead the Spanish speaking Community of Practice meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • BSN

  • Master’s degree in nursing, Public Health or related field

  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish)

  • Active unencumbered RN license is required in the state of residence, unless a higher-level active unencumbered nursing license is held (e.g. certified nurse midwife or nurse practitioner)

  • Active CPR certification, maintained

  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience, including at least 2 years of nursing experience in maternal and/or infant health

  • Minimum of 2 years nurse supervisory experience

  • Knowledge of infant development, attachment, and milestones

  • Knowledge of postpartum health

  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and principles

  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations and ability to demonstrate sensitivity, flexibility, adaptability, and affinity for a multicultural environment.

  • Experience with educational design process, using adult learning principles and evaluation process for nurse education

  • Experience and comfort with delivering formal presentations, both in person and virtually

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to manage a flexible yet demanding schedule with multiple competing demands while providing a high level of customer service

  • Ability to work independently and in teams

  • Commitment to universal home visiting as a public health intervention for newborns and their families

  • Understanding of the social drivers of health

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Home visiting, nurse management, and/or nurse education experience are strongly preferred

  • Familiar with ANCC Educational design process, implementation and evaluation

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended sitting (up to 8 hours per day).

  • Keyboarding

  • Ability to work in different (changing) locations and environments

  • Ability to travel in air, train, and car

Pay Band: $80,000 - $120,000; alignment within pay band based on direct relevant experience. All travel expenses are covered under FC policy.
