JOB SUMMARY: The OCC Teacher oversees the services to children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and/or autism in after-school, respite, and summer camp service programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Adapts and modifies lesson plans from the school curriculum to support the students in progressing through the curriculum/lessons. Collects data to document ongoing progress towards Core Curriculum and IFSP goals. Meets regularly with the Director of Maryland Community Services concerning student goals, student needs, modification of assignments/lessons, etc. Prepares, writes, and implements student academic goal plan utilizing curriculum-based checkpoints. Maintains ongoing documentation concerning student participation, achievements, incidents, parental contacts, etc. Responsible for supporting the staff within the after school, summer camp, and respite programs. Responsible for overseeing the case management responsibilities for those participants within after school, summer camp, and respite programs. Supervises the Program Aids and Volunteers that work with the children. Provides immediate feedback and correction of inappropriate interactions/interventions performed by other staff or volunteers. Reports incidents immediately to the Program Manager. Safely transports participants occasionally from the Program to community outings and back in an Agency vehicle as scheduled. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: High School diploma, certificate of high school equivalency, or Successful Completion of college courses for credit. 6 semesters, 90 clock hours or equivalent of approved school-age coursework, and one of these areas of experience – 400 hours of experience working with school-age children in an approved setting or 1 year of college (30 semester hours), or a combination of experience and college that equals 1 year. Or approved as a teacher or educational director for kindergarten or grades 1-8, Or hold a teaching certificate from MSDE or any other state for kindergarten or grades 1-8, Or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, or child development, Or bachelor’s degree in any academic subject has 1800 hours of experience working with school-age children in an approved setting. 100 hours of experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum and/or students with cognitive delays. SKILLS and COMPETENCIES: Must possess a valid local, driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings, to the people we serve, other employees of the organization, families, and community members.
