Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Offshore Staff Accountant to join our growing consulting team. In this role, you will provide high-quality accounting services to a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to bring order to complex or disorganized financial records. You will play a key role in helping clients transition to accrual-based accounting, complete full balance sheet reconciliations, and produce reliable, audit-ready financials.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple clients across various industries, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.
• Perform cash-to-accrual conversions, including identifying and recording necessary adjusting journal entries for accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, deferred revenue, and depreciation.
• Execute full balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including cash, AR, AP, fixed assets, intercompany accounts, payroll liabilities, and equity.
• Perform cleanup engagements on messy or incomplete books — reviewing historical transactions, correcting miscoded entries, reconciling prior-period imbalances, and bringing financials to a reportable state.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
• Record and review journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and recurring entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including bill entry, vendor reconciliations, invoicing, and collections support.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and merchant accounts; identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts; recommend improvements to streamline reporting and client operations.
• Collaborate with onshore team members and clients to gather information, clarify transactions, and provide timely responses to inquiries.
• Document accounting procedures, workflows, and client-specific processes to support consistency and knowledge transfer.
• Support year-end close, audit preparation, and tax-ready financial packages.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates from a consulting, outsourced accounting, or multi-client environment.
• Demonstrated experience servicing clients across multiple industries (e.g., professional services, e-commerce, construction, real estate, healthcare, manufacturing, or hospitality).
• Strong working knowledge of accrual-basis accounting and U.S. GAAP.
• Hands-on experience with cash-to-accrual conversions, including the judgment to identify required adjustments without extensive supervision.
• Proven ability to perform full balance sheet reconciliations independently and resolve complex variances.
• Significant experience with financial cleanup and catch-up work — comfortable diagnosing issues in disorganized ledgers and restoring them to a clean, reportable state.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (required); experience with QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, NetSuite, or Sage is a plus.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and reconciliation workpapers).
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; ability to interact professionally with U.S.-based clients and team members.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities concurrently.
• Reliable high-speed internet connection and a professional remote work environment with the ability to overlap with U.S. business hours as required.
• 2+ Years of client facing roles
Preferred Qualifications
• CPA, ACCA, CA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification (or actively pursuing).
• Experience working with U.S.-based clients in an offshore or remote capacity.
• Experience preparing client-ready management reports and KPI dashboards.
• Exposure to sales tax, payroll processing, or 1099 compliance.
Key Competencies
• Analytical mindset — able to investigate discrepancies, ask the right questions, and arrive at well-supported conclusions.
• Attention to detail — committed to accuracy and producing reconciliations that tie out to the penny.
• Self-motivated and accountable — works effectively with minimal supervision in a remote environment.
• Adaptable — comfortable switching context between clients, industries, and accounting systems.
• Client-service oriented — professional, responsive, and discreet when handling sensitive financial information.
What We Offer
• Competitive compensation aligned with experience and certifications.
• Fully remote work with a collaborative, supportive team.
• Exposure to a wide variety of industries, business models, and accounting challenges.
• Professional development support, including certification and continuing education assistance.
• Long-term growth path within a stable, client-focused consulting practice.
