Oliver WymanDescription:
Who We Are
Oliver Wyman, a Marsh (NYSE: MRSH) business, is a management consulting firm driven by deep industry insight, bold innovation, and a collaborative approach that cuts through complexity to help organizations navigate their most defining transformative moments.
Clients approach us with their most significant challenges, and we assemble teams of experts to address each facet of these complex issues. Together, we create breakthroughs that lead to remarkable impact.
Role Overview
Oliver Wyman DNA team builds software products and solutions that aim to be re-used and adapted across different contexts or projects. Typical products span solutions that improve how financial institutions model and manage risk, how wealth managers run their advisory and client processes, how lenders perform credit analysis, and how retailers personalize digital marketing, among others. AI is a key component of all our solutions, and most of our products are either AI-native or largely AI-enhanced.
As Product Manager, you run one of these products day to day: roadmap and backlog, quality and releases, demos, go-to-market material, user feedback and the operating rhythm around it. The direction of the product, its commercial model and its place in the wider portfolio are set by the Partners and the product Directors in the team, and you work to that direction. You prepare the decisions they take; you understand the context, gather the evidence, frame the options and propose a recommendation. You are expected to have a view and to argue it, and you will have the product Directors close by for guidance as you grow into broader ownership. Stakeholders are based in UK, Europe, India and US time zones.
Why Join Us?
- Run a real, impactful software product, used inside the firm and by our clients
- Build products that materially improve how major institutions manage risk, advise clients, extend credit or reach their customers
- Work directly with consulting Partners, clients and engineering teams on products where AI is central
- Learn the commercial side of product from Partners and product Directors who do it every day
- A clear development path toward Director-level product ownership for strong performers
Key Responsibilities
- Run the product backlog day to day, turning the agreed direction into features, priorities, acceptance criteria and releases with the engineering team.
- Maintain the product roadmap, and keep it current as client needs, engineering constraints and priorities change.
- Work closely with the consulting Partners, their teams and their clients to understand their needs and gather requirements.
- Represent the product in demos, pitches and client conversations, supporting the Partner or product Director who leads the commercial discussion.
- Build a strong working understanding of the domain, the users and the competition, and bring it into product discussions.
- Track the usage and cost data behind the product, and provide it to the Partners and product Directors who set pricing and investment.
- Hold the day-to-day quality bar with the engineering team: testing, release readiness, security, data handling and demo readiness.
- Build and maintain the go-to-market package, and promote the product internally across consulting, marketing, sales and delivery.
- Turn feedback from clients, users and delivery teams into a prioritized enhancement list, and be clear on what is out and why.
- Flag trade-offs and hard choices early, prepare the options and a recommendation, and bring them to the Partners and product Directors for decision.
- Run the product operating rhythm and track how the product performs, covering adoption, usage, reliability and client satisfaction.
Technical Skills and Expertise
Product Ownership and Execution:
Experience running a software product, or a substantial part of one, day to day, with responsibility for the backlog and the release rhythm.
A track record of imposing structure on an evolving product, and of keeping many threads moving without dropping any.
Domain and Market Understanding:
- Working knowledge of, or genuine appetite to learn, a relevant business domain such as risk modelling, wealth and asset management, credit, banking, insurance, retail or digital marketing.
- The discipline to learn the business process the product improves from clients, consultants and users.
- Experience running a competitive scan and a user needs analysis, and translating both into concrete product implications.
AI Product Fluency:
- Practical understanding of how AI changes product work, covering evaluation of non-deterministic outputs, accuracy thresholds, human oversight and readiness for client use.
- Awareness that AI products carry inference and token costs per user, and the habit of keeping an eye on them.
Product Definition, Delivery and Quality:
- Strong command of intake, prioritization, feature definition, user stories, acceptance criteria and release planning.
- Experience working with engineers and architects on product definition, testing, release readiness, security and support needs.
- Enough technical grounding to challenge sensibly on cloud, data and deployment topics.
- Fluency with product and delivery tooling such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence or equivalent.
Go-to-Market and Communication:
- Experience building demos, sample data and product narratives that show the product honestly and well.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and credibility in front of clients and colleagues.
Working with Partners and Product Directors:
- A track record of building trust with senior stakeholders and engineering leads, and of working effectively without formal authority.
- The discipline to prepare a decision properly: the context, the options, the implications and a clear recommendation.
- The judgement to know which calls are yours and which belong with the Partners and product Directors.
Additional Technologies (nice-to-have):
- Experience with enterprise SaaS or data and analytics products, particularly where the product embeds quantitative models or decisioning.
- Understanding how to use agentic flows and the latest AI tooling to raise the productivity and quality of product and delivery work.
What Makes a Great Candidate
- 2 to 4 years of experience in product management, or equivalent experience in technology delivery or consulting with real exposure to product work.
- Experience across the day-to-day of a product, covering backlog, releases, quality, materials and stakeholders, and the readiness to run it.
- At ease with engineers on backlog and releases, and with senior stakeholders on status, options and decisions.
- Exposure to AI in live products, and curiosity about what it takes to run them well.
- Bias to action: chases things down, closes loops, and does not wait to be told.
- Intellectually honest about the state of the product, surfacing bad news early with options attached.
- Personal qualities including ownership mindset, resilience, strong collaboration skills and a passion for excellence.
- Growth potential toward Director-level product ownership, taking on the commercial and portfolio agenda over time.
