Responsibilities

• Collect and abstract oncology patient data from medical records and clinical documentation
• Maintain and update cancer registry databases with accuracy and completeness
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare data privacy regulations
• Collaborate with clinical teams to verify and validate data integrity
• Generate reports and analyze data trends to support research and quality improvement initiatives
• Assist in the preparation of data for accreditation surveys and audits
• Support tumor board presentations and multidisciplinary case reviews
• Perform regular quality assurance checks on data entries to ensure reliability
• Stay current with oncology coding guidelines and data standards updates
• Provide training and support to team members on data management best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in health informatics, biology, nursing, or a related field
• 1-3 years of experience in oncology data management, cancer registry, or clinical data roles
• Strong knowledge of oncology terminology and ICD-O coding standards
• Experience with cancer registry software and electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Understanding of HIPAA compliance and data privacy regulations
• Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification is preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
