BAY Path UniversityOnline Adjunct Faculty - Special Education (SPE 548) Fully Remote • East Longmeadow, MA 01028 Apply Overview Salary Range $500.00 - $1,200.00 Salary Position Type Adjunct Faculty Apply Description Graduate Level Synchronous Online SEI Course Course Title: Reading and Language Arts for English Language Learners Course Description: This course is designed to introduce the developing teacher to reading instruction and the development of a reading/writing community in English for English Learners (ELs). This course is designed to promote continuous improvement in educator practice, and to build confidence and familiarity with research-proven practices for working with ELLs. This course is framed around two module areas: A) English Language Learners, Language Acquisition, and Sheltered English Instruction, and B) Academic Language and Literacy Development in the SEI Classroom. Compensation: $500 - $1,200 per credit. Adjunct faculty pay rates vary, depending on the academic discipline and the course's credit load and level. Qualifications SEI Course Instructor must: Hold a current Massachusetts Educator Professional License with SEI Endorsement, preferably a Massachusetts ESL Educator License A minimum of a Master's Degree in English as a Second Language or a closely related field Minimum of 5 years teaching multilingual learners in a K12 public school setting A minimum of 2 years teaching an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) course Available to hold weekly virtual Zoom class meetings on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and within FERPA and HIPAA guidelines. All new employees must complete the FERPA, Anti-Harassment, and any other required online trainings within 15 days of employment. General knowledge of the University’s mission, purpose, and goals and the role this position plays in achieving those goals.
