Location: Remote, Latin America, Europe, or U.S. Schedule: Minimum 4 hours daily overlap with Madrid business hours (CET) Engagement: Long term contract
About the Role
Our client, a global transportation infrastructure operator running toll highways and mobility assets across Europe and Latin America, is building its data and AI ecosystem on Palantir Foundry. They need an Ontology Lead to own the semantic layer that every use case, application, and AI workflow will be built on.
You will define how the business is modeled in Foundry: which objects exist, how they relate, who can access them, and how they stay accurate as data and use cases evolve. You will sit between business teams and engineering, turning operational concepts into reusable Ontology models and making sure the platform grows as one coherent foundation rather than a collection of isolated builds.
This is a design and ownership role. You will set standards, review and guide the work of use case teams, and drive adoption of a shared enterprise data language.
Responsibilities
Ontology design, standards and roadmap
Define and maintain Ontology modeling standards, object principles, permissions, and documentation requirements
Design object types, links, actions, and relationships aligned with business priorities and operational processes
Build and maintain a long term Ontology roadmap aligned with the Foundry program and the rollout of priority use cases
Prevent isolated or duplicated models by identifying reuse opportunities across business units and functions
Governance, security and alignment
Partner with Data Governance and Data Leads to ensure Ontology initiatives are secure and feasible
Define ownership, permissions, and access models for Ontology objects and related datasets
Ensure Ontology design reflects data quality, privacy, security, and AI governance requirements
Document architectural decisions, modeling assumptions, limitations, and dependencies
Escalate risks around data quality, inconsistent definitions, access gaps, or duplicate objects
Use case enablement and business adoption
Work with Domain Leads and use case teams to map business concepts, operational entities, and decision needs into the Ontology
Participate in scoping priority use cases so Ontology concepts are designed correctly from the start
Help squads understand how to use Ontology objects in applications, dashboards, workflows, and AI solutions
Create a shared language between business users and technical teams, connecting the Ontology to real business outcomes
Data sources, pipelines and Ontology maintenance
Develop a deep understanding of the data sources feeding the Ontology
Coordinate with Foundry Engineers and Data Leads so ingestion and transformation pipelines meet Ontology, quality, and governance standards
Monitor Ontology changes driven by new sources, new use cases, pipeline changes, or business requests
Maintain traceability between source data, pipelines, Ontology objects, business rules, and user facing applications
Requirements
Hands on experience designing in the Palantir Foundry Ontology (object types, link types, action types, permissions) in a production setting
Experience owning or governing a data model used by multiple teams or use cases, including setting standards others had to follow
Advanced data modeling and semantic modeling skills
Strong knowledge of databases, data structures, pipelines, and transformation logic
Working knowledge of Foundry capabilities including Object Explorer, Data Connection, permissions, and pipelines
Understanding of data governance, access control, privacy, security, and AI governance principles
Ability to read and interpret pipeline logic, data lineage, and technical documentation
Proven ability to translate business processes and operational needs into technical data structures
Strong documentation discipline and consistency in applying standards
Ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary teams without direct authority
Clear communication with both technical and non technical stakeholders
Professional English (C1 level), written and verbal
Nice to Have
Spanish fluency
Experience with Databricks or Azure data platforms
Experience modeling data for physical operations such as transportation, infrastructure, utilities, energy, or manufacturing
Background in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field
Why Join
Own the foundation of a multi year Palantir program at a global infrastructure operator. Your models will shape every application and AI use case built on the platform, and you will work directly with business leadership and engineering teams across Europe and Latin America.
