The Open Banking Technology Team is looking for an IT Software Engineer based out of Milton Keynes, Unity Place.
This is an exciting time to join us as the Open Banking landscape continues to change, driven by new industry capabilities, emerging technologies and changing customer expectations.
Working alongside business and technology teams, Group colleagues and strategic suppliers, you’ll help deliver secure, innovative and customer-focused digital services while contributing to our technical architecture and ways of working.
You’ll play an important role in designing, building and improving our technology, helping drive transformation and simplification across our systems and the wider technology ecosystem.
We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:
- Contributing as a key member of the engineering team to deliver strategic Payments and Open Banking programmes.
- Building and delivering high-quality products and services that exceed customer expectations.
- Supporting our data-driven transformation through the adoption of cloud-native and open-source technologies.
- Collaborating with business stakeholders, UX designers, architects and engineering managers to refine and deliver functional and technical solutions.
- Ensuring services remain stable, secure and performant in production by minimising incidents and maximising service quality.
- Supporting the design, implementation and operation of secure identity and access management capabilities across Payments and Open Banking services.

Professional Experience
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer, with great expertise in AWS cloud services and Java 11+. (Required)
- Hands-on experience implementing, configuring and supporting Ping Identity solutions, including PingFederate, PingAccess and PingOne, within enterprise-scale environments. (Required)
- Experience working with Agile software development practices, including unit testing, Test-Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD. (Required)
- Hands-on experience using tools such as GitHub, Jira, Jenkins and automated code quality and security scanning tools throughout the software development lifecycle. (Required)
- Experience applying Agile methodologies, including TDD and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD). (Required)
- Experience supporting and resolving production incidents in a live environment. (Required)
- Experience adopting Agile engineering practices, including Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, CI/CD and automated testing. (Preferred)
- Experience working within Payments, Open Banking, Financial Services or another highly regulated industry. (Preferred)
Education
- Degree in Digital Technology Solutions, or on track to complete a Digital Technology Solutions degree by Q2 2027. (Required)
Hard Skills
- Great understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles and modern authentication and authorisation protocols, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC) and SAML. (Required)
- Solid understanding of multilevel architecture running on PaaS infrastructure. (Required)
- Great knowledge of AWS services, the AWS Well-Architected Framework and event-driven architectures. (Preferred)
- Experience working with SQL databases, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Aurora, and NoSQL technologies, including DynamoDB and MongoDB. (Preferred)
- Exposure to DevOps tooling and automation supporting continuous integration and delivery. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of API management, API security and customer consent frameworks. (Preferred)
Soft Skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. (Required)
- Great communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, UX designers, architects, engineering managers and other technology teams. (Required)
- Ability to balance customer outcomes with security, resilience, performance and service quality when delivering technology solutions. (Required)

Salary Range:
£45,320.00 - £67,980.00 per annum (depending on experience)
This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
