Context

For one of our clients, a major European electricity transmission system operator (TSO), we are looking for an Operational Excellence Manager to join their Grid Development department in Brussels. The department runs the grid studies behind client connections and grid development plans, and demand is growing fast with the electrification of society. Your mission is to help it scale up smartly: you will build and lead the Grid Development Center of Excellence and turn the strategic roadmap into a structured operational excellence plan that makes the teams faster, sharper and more satisfied in their work. You will work closely with the department's Core Team and the PMOs across the department.

What you will do

  • Turn the department's strategic roadmap into a structured operational excellence plan with the Core Team, and drive its execution
  • Run the quarterly planning and reprioritisation cycle and coordinate resource planning across the teams
  • Define the KPIs, launch a monthly performance dashboard and lead the operational dialogue where data turns into actions and decisions
  • Design a document management system for key documents, from a System Planning pilot (end 2027) to a department-wide roll-out, for traceable decisions and transparent reporting
  • Embed a continuous improvement framework to identify, assess and implement improvements in processes, tools and ways of working, and measure their impact on efficiency and quality
  • Set up the Center of Excellence with shared guidelines, tools and best practices, and align the PMOs within the department to avoid redundancy
  • Lead specific projects from idea to implementation and make sure the changes stick

What you bring

  • Master's degree in engineering (civil, commercial or other) or economics, or equivalent experience 4+ years of experience in operational excellence, including KPI definition, dashboarding (e.g. Power BI), process optimisation and document management
  • Basic knowledge of the energy sector and of how a transmission system operator works
  • A change maker with a service mindset, able to engage stakeholders and help teams succeed
  • Autonomous and hands-on: you set priorities, make decisions, communicate clearly with management and deliver tangible results, even when not everything is defined
  • Eligible to work in Belgium (non-EU candidates: valid Belgian work permit and residence permit)
  • Good English, and fluent French or Dutch

What we offer

A long-term assignment with a key player of the European energy transition, with real impact on how a growing grid development organisation works. The role is based in Brussels, hybrid, with 3 days per week on site.
