Acting as the primary bridge between business operations and other risk and compliance functions, the Manager partners with senior leadership to embed a proactive risk culture, oversee control assurance, and ensure the division remains compliant with all legislative obligations. Ultimately, this role ensures that the division operates within its risk appetite whilst maintaining high standards of governance and operational resilience.

  • Support the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the Line 1 risk and control framework across operational functions.
  • Identify, design and implement controls aligned to the organisation's risk appetite and regulatory obligations including performing of design and operating effectiveness (DE/OE) testing, process reviews and assurance activities.
  • Partner with the business to develop, implement and track remediation plans arising from control weaknesses or failures.
  • Coordinate Line 1 audit readiness activities, ensuring documentation, evidence and control records are maintained and readily available.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of risk management standards, regulatory requirements and industry developments within the Australian superannuation sector.
  • Support the end-to-end management of operational risk incidents, including logging, investigation, root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Build effective relationships with key stakeholders, including Risk, Compliance, Legal and operational leaders, to drive strong risk outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive risk documentation, records and reporting artefacts.

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in risk management, controls, audit, compliance, or operational risk within financial services. Experience within superannuation operations or administration will be highly regarded.
  • Extensive experience in risk management, risk and control frameworks, audit preparation, and operational risk within financial services, ideally with exposure to superannuation or other regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian regulatory landscape, including superannuation, APRA-regulated entities, financial services obligations, and industry risk management standards.
  • Demonstrated experience working with risk and control frameworks, control testing, assurance activities, audit lifecycles, incident management, and remediation programs.
  • Advanced ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory, risk and compliance requirements, and provide practical guidance to business stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across operational teams, Compliance, Risk, Audit and senior leadership.
  • Experience using data to support risk management and decision-making, including risk reporting, trend analysis, and performance insights. Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI are highly regarded.
  • Experience supporting or delivering risk and compliance-related change initiatives within complex and evolving business environments is highly desirable.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic environment, managing ambiguity, competing priorities, and regulatory change.
  • Commercial acumen and a continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on strengthening controls, mitigating risk, and improving operational outcomes.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance, Law, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
