About the role

We're looking for an Operations Associate to join our Workplace Operations team within Penfold's wider Operations function. You will be integrated into our rapidly growing operations team meaning you'll be part of running, defining and streamlining our processes and best practices, so that we can continue to deliver a high-quality service as our business grows. Our business and our operations team are rapidly growing and therefore the responsibilities within this role will keep adapting. You’ll be instrumental in keeping everything running smoothly while we transition to a more automated, streamlined approach.

Here’s some of the stuff you’ll be doing:

• You will be responsible for performing a broad range of operational tasks.
• You'll take ownership of your work, use your initiative to solve problems and help ensure our processes run efficiently and smoothly.
• The tasks require strong attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to manage competing priorities efficiently.
• You will be working closely with other members of your team including team members who will be more customer-focused.
• You'll look for opportunities to improve and simplify existing processes, challenging how things are done and helping us build efficient, scalable operations.
• You'll help ensure that workplace pension contributions, payments and related operational processes are handled accurately and on time.

What We’re Looking For

• 1–3 years’ experience in operations, finance, tax, accounting, or a similar data-driven role.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling operational and financial data.
• Confidence using Excel or Google Sheets, including common formulas and lookups.
• Ownership and reliability - someone who follows through without constant reminders.
• An analytical mindset and willingness to question inefficient processes.
• Good communication and ability to work across teams.

Bonus Points For

• Familiarity with UK tax rules, particularly around pension tax relief.
• Experience working within a regulated environment or on tax-related processes.
• Exposure to automation tooling, scripting, or workflow optimisation.
• Experience handling tax reporting or HMRC submissions.
• Experience using SQL
