🇫🇮Finland🏠Remote📁Operations & Admin
Is this job info correct?

The WPO Group is an independent European platform of renewable energy expert-services. Our clients are asset owners, investors, lenders and insurers. By providing asset management services on over 10 GW of wind and solar sites generating €1.7bn of electricity sales annually, WPO is the market leader in France, UK, Ireland and Sweden. Our integrated service offering also includes technical specialized SaaS, due-diligence, asset inspections, testing and insurance brokerage. WPO currently operates across 13 European countries through 48 offices or service points.

The Role

As an Operations Engineer, you will support the technical operation and performance of a portfolio of wind farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Finland, Sweden, and Europe. Working as part of the Nordic and Baltic operations team, you will monitor asset performance, coordinate maintenance activities, produce technical reports, and help ensure maximum availability and energy output for our clients.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, service providers, and asset owners to maintain compliance with contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements while contributing to the continuous improvement of operational processes and asset performance.

The Person

A degree or qualification in Engineering, a technical discipline, or a related field is desirable; however, candidates with relevant training or industry experience are also encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be proactive, highly organised, and possess excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on accuracy in reporting, data analysis, and site monitoring. Experience within the wind, solar, or BESS sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.

A full, clean driving licence is required, as occasional travel to operational sites may be necessary.

Primary Objectives

  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations are consistently met on a day-to-day basis.
  • Liaise with Technical Services teams to investigate failures, monitor response times, and review corrective actions undertaken.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all operations and maintenance activities across sites.
  • Compile, validate, and present accurate monthly operational reports for customers and asset owners, including Wind Farms, BESS, and Solar assets.
  • Develop and implement systems, processes, and procedures that support asset optimisation and operational excellence.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and asset owners, providing regular updates and performance reporting

Duties also include, but are not limited to:

  • Gather, analyse, distribute, and proactively monitor operational data for managed sites in collaboration with other team members.
  • Conduct daily operational monitoring and ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
  • Perform performance, downtime, and availability analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare and issue monthly, annual, and lender/bank reports, while supporting and training colleagues in report preparation and best practices.
  • Investigate and follow up on performance issues to ensure timely resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Obtain and maintain all relevant service, maintenance, and site activity records.
  • Ensure all site activity records are current, accurate, and properly documented.
  • Manage monthly and annual availability calculations, including the assessment and submission of associated contractual claims where applicable.
  • Respond to alarms and events generated by monitoring systems, escalating and communicating concerns to owners, maintainers, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with site-based personnel, field technicians, and Site Managers to organise repairs, maintenance activities, and statutory inspections.
  • Maintain and manage schedules for servicing activities, site visits, statutory inspections, maintenance campaigns, and other operational requirements.
  • Support the continuous improvement of operational processes, asset performance, and reporting standards across the portfolio.

Personal Skills / Attributes:

You will have excellent attention to detail, as accurate data gathering, continuous site monitoring, and the production of high-quality reports are critical to the success of the role.

Working within a small, collaborative team in a fast-paced environment, you will be highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities effectively, and maintain a positive, solution-focused approach. Strong interpersonal skills and a good sense of humor will help you thrive within the team culture.

We encourage a proactive mindset, where you will actively contribute to the development of best practices, process improvements, and operational excellence. Continuous improvement is a core value of the business, and you will play an important role in driving innovation and enhancing the performance of our assets and operations.

Education and Qualifications:

You should hold a degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Electricity, Renewable Energy, Science, Technology, or a related discipline, or be able to demonstrate equivalent relevant industry experience. IT/OT knowledge would also be a plus. Due to the nature of the role, candidates must be fluent in English and Finnish.

A proven track record and experience within the renewable energy sector, particularly in wind, solar, or battery energy storage systems (BESS), would be highly advantageous.
