Operations Manager

About the Role:

AdviceOne is growing, and we're looking for a special person to lead a team within our Operations department. Someone who has never led an operations team, but led or managed people in a different industry and has a natural knack for it.

We recently developed a manager who came to us from a retail background in personal and commercial selling, with a gift for developing salespeople wherever they went. At our insistence, they had absolutely zero financial services experience. Today, that person successfully manages all Advisors-in-Training at our firm. We're looking for someone with that very same potential. Our sweet spot is more than 2 years leading, but absolutely no more than 6. We want to teach you our way, not un-teach another firm's.

Responsibilities include:

Our Operations Manager will lead and develop the team that drives all processes both client-facing and behind the scenes that enable our firm to run smoothly. Here's what really matters: this person has to thrive on developing people. We're a team-managed firm, and we grow by growing our people.

• Run the day-to-day management of your team, keeping work moving and priorities clear
• Build and maintain a culture of ownership, collaboration, and accountability
• Coach, train, and develop your team; take real ownership of their growth
• Mentor team members through challenges, not just tasks, and invest in where they grow next
• Spot what's broken or inefficient and build better ways of doing things
• Partner with leadership to shape and execute strategy for your area

About You:

• You’re a natural leader and get energy from it
• Thrive on holding a team accountable and developing them
• An out-of-the-box thinker who is comfortable proposing new ideas and questioning how things are being done.
• A true people-person who gets work done through people, not by themselves
• You enjoy digging into complex problems and finding practical solutions
• Communicate expectations, feedback, and process changes clearly and directly
• Receive feedback well and act on it immediately
• Organized, detail-oriented, and can manage multiple moving parts at once
• 2-6 years of professional experience, including 2 years directly managing people
• BA/BS degree

About Balance:

• Hybrid position
• In-person on Tuesdays in Glastonbury, CT. Every other day is work-from-home
• Flexibility to ensure a total of 40 hours for work/life balance
