The School of Communication and Creativity is seeking an Operations Manager to lead our Business Operations Team. Based within Professional Services, this pivotal role bridges academic leadership, central services, and School professional services teams to drive School strategy. You will oversee operational processes, administrative support, space allocations, and school events, including our unique concerts, performances, and Urdang auditions. You will have the opportunity to shape a high-quality, customer-facing administrative environment in a dynamic creative school.
Responsibilities
- Lead and line-manage the Business Operations Team, overseeing workloads, training, and annual appraisals.
- Streamline school operations by implementing systematic processes and aligning activities with developing school strategies.
- Manage financial controls, including budget support, operational spend sign-offs, and processing visiting-lecturer, freelancer or guest payments.
- Coordinate school infrastructure, leading estates-related space projects and facilitating high-profile events, concerts, and auditions.
- Build cross-departmental relationships with central teams like HR, IT, and Finance to resolve operational issues.
Person Specification
- Education & Knowledge: Degree-educated (or equivalent) with a strong understanding of university structures and health and safety compliance.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record in Higher Education customer support, team supervision, and staff development.
- Operational Skills: Exceptional operational management, complex problem-solving, and administrative support capabilities.
- Communication: Adept at persuading, influencing, and building relationships across academic and professional service teams.
- Values: Deep commitment to inclusivity, sustainability, and personal professional development.
