About the Role Momentum Employer Group (MEG) is seeking a detail-oriented Operations/Payroll Specialist to support payroll administration and daily operations for assigned clients. In this part-time role, you will support multiple clients by coordinating payroll, reviewing information for accuracy, resolving routine issues, maintaining records, and providing responsive service. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable using multiple payroll and HR systems, and committed to protecting confidential information. What You'll Do Process payroll for assigned clients, ensuring information is complete, accurate , approved, and submitted on time. Review employee changes, time records, earnings, deductions, reimbursements, garnishments, and other payroll information for completeness and accuracy. Review payroll registers and reports, identify discrepancies, and coordinate corrections before processing. Research and coordinate resolution of routine payroll questions with clients, employees, payroll providers, and internal team members. Maintain accurate employee and payroll information in client HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, and internal tracking systems. Support new-hire setup , employee changes, terminations, and related payroll administration processes. Track payroll schedules, due dates, approvals, and outstanding items to support timely completion. Prepare recurring payroll reports, reconciliations, and operational metrics for client and leadership review. Complete employment and income verifications accurately, promptly, and through approved channels. Maintain organized payroll records, process documentation, client files, and audit support materials. Provide backup support for other roles as needed. Provide professional support through shared inboxes, phone , virtual meetings, and other communication channels. Communicate deadlines, missing information, process requirements, and issue status clearly to clients and internal stakeholders. Support operational projects, system implementations, process updates, client transitions, and workflow improvements. What You Bring Required: 3 - 5 years of payroll administration experience , including processing payroll data, resolving discrepancies, and meeting deadlines. Experience with payroll reporting, reconciliations, tax notices, garnishments, or benefits deductions. Experience supporting payroll through one or more HRIS, payroll, or timekeeping systems. Knowledge of payroll practices, including earnings, deductions, timekeeping, reporting, reconciliations, tax notices, garnishments, and deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing and reconciling payroll data. Strong organizational, time-management , and follow-through skills. Ability to manage multiple client payroll schedules, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Clear written and verbal communication skills with a service-focused approach. Ability to research routine issues, use sound judgment, and escalate concerns appropriately. Ability to handle confidential employee, client, payroll, and company information with discretion. Preferred: Associate's degree in business, accounting, human resources, or a related field Experience directly processing payroll for multiple clients, states, or payroll frequencies in a professional services environment, including work across multiple HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, or related systems. Experience with payroll reporting, reconciliations, tax notices, garnishments, or benefits deductions Familiarity with HRIS implementation, data conversion, process documentation, or workflow improvement Compensation & Work Environment Schedule: Part-time, approximately 15 –20 hours per week. This is a remote position . The role requires a dedicated workspace, reliable internet connectivity, and availability to support established payroll deadlines and client needs. Candidates must be able to work at a computer for extended periods; review payroll reports, spreadsheets, and employment documentation; communicate effectively by phone, video, and email; and occasionally lift or move materials up to 10 pounds.
