In this role, you will be responsible for the optical design of EO/IR systems , supporting development from requirements analysis through the preparation of engineering deliverables for Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) . The position requires experience working within these development phases and the ability to mature designs from preliminary concepts into consolidated optical architectures . You will contribute to the development and optimization of optical and imaging systems , ensuring consistency between system requirements, optical specifications, interfaces, tolerances, and verification approaches throughout the design process. Your main tasks will be: Design EO/IR optical systems from requirements analysis through preparation of deliverables for PDR and CDR Analyze and derive system and optical requirements , ensuring clear requirement interpretation and traceability Define optical specifications based on system-level performance targets Develop preliminary and detailed optical designs , evolving concepts into consolidated system architectures Perform optical architecture trade-off studies to evaluate design alternatives and optimize solutions Optimize optical system performance using CODE V Prepare key engineering documentation , including Hardware Design Documents (HDD), design justifications, requirements traceability, and a preliminary verification and validation (V&V) approach Ensure alignment between requirements, interfaces, tolerances, and verification criteria throughout the design cycle Contribute to the technical preparation of PDR and CDR design reviews Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to refine system architectures and support design maturation
