Company Overview:
Integrated Data Services (IDS) is a leading provider of custom software products and Government financial management services. IDS was founded in 1997 in El Segundo, CA, and since that time has seen tremendous growth and success. Currently, IDS has offices supporting customers nationwide. By providing customers with fast, efficient and reliable information systems and support services, IDS has become a preferred provider of financial and programmatic systems, services and solutions across a wide variety of government agencies.
Position Description:
IDS is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to support mission-critical DoD financial management and programming and budgeting systems. Our environment runs mostly on AWS Oracle RDS in GovCloud and keeps some on-premises footprint, so we’re looking for someone comfortable working across both. You’ll own the health, performance, and security of production databases, partner with application teams on releases and troubleshooting, and help us meet the documentation and evidence requirements that come with operating in a regulated environment.
This role suits someone who works independently, likes both hands-on technical work and process discipline, and can explain technical issues clearly to customers and auditors.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Administer Oracle databases on AWS RDS, including multitenant (CDB/PDB) configurations, parameter and option groups, snapshots, automated backups, and point-in-time recovery
- Support and maintain remaining on-premises Oracle environments, including installation, patching, upgrades, and backup and recovery with RMAN
- Plan and execute Oracle version upgrades and patching across cloud and on-prem environments with minimal disruption to production
- Monitor database performance and capacity with tools such as CloudWatch, Performance Insights, Enhanced Monitoring, AWR, and ASH, and proactively address bottlenecks
- Deploy schema and data changes to production as part of coordinated software releases, following change management and configuration control processes
- Perform general Linux and Windows system administration for database-adjacent servers, tooling, and integrations
- Configure and maintain database security controls, including Unified Auditing, encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access, and account management consistent with DoD security requirements
- Support RMF assessment and authorization activities by producing control evidence, running queries for assessors, contributing to System Security Plan documentation, and tracking and remediating POA&M items
- Apply and validate DISA STIGs and SRG requirements for Oracle and the underlying Linux and Windows hosts, and support recurring vulnerability scanning and continuous monitoring reporting
- Write and analyze complex SQL to investigate, report on, and correct application data
- Read and troubleshoot PL/SQL code, correlate its logic to application behavior, and diagnose bugs and performance issues caused by logic errors or data inconsistencies
- Write and execute anonymous PL/SQL scripts and validate results
- Develop and maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation
- Work directly with customers and internal teams to troubleshoot issues, communicate status, and recommend improvements to performance, reliability, and automation
Knowledge and Skills:
- This position requires a minimum of seven (7) years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
- This position requires a CompTIA Security+ (or other DoD 8140-approved certification at IAT Level II or higher)
- Additional required experience includes:
- Hands-on experience with both on-premises Oracle and cloud-hosted Oracle (AWS RDS strongly preferred)
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills, including the ability to read, debug, and tune existing code
- Working proficiency in Linux system administration; familiarity with Windows Server administration
- Experience with Oracle backup, recovery, patching, and upgrade procedures
- Experience working in a regulated environment, including supporting audits or compliance reporting
- Comfort with client tools such as SQL*Plus, SQL Developer, and Toad for Oracle
- Additional preferred experience includes:
- Experience with AWS GovCloud and core AWS services (IAM, KMS, S3, CloudWatch, VPC networking)
- Experience with Oracle multitenant architecture and Unified Auditing
- Familiarity with DoD financial management, PPBE, or Government accounting systems
- Scripting or automation experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python) and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
- Hands-on experience with RMF artifacts and tooling, such as eMASS, STIG Viewer, and ACAS/Nessus scan remediation
- Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or AWS Certified Database or Solutions Architect
