Paralegal Contractor

Kelvin Inc

🇺🇸United States🏠Remote💰$2.5K–$4K/mo📁Legal & Compliance
Is this job info correct?

TL;DR We're hiring a part-time Paralegal (US, remote; Idaho a plus) to support Kelvin's legal team on an ongoing, non-caseload basis, think contract templates, playbooks, and NDA/MSA review, not litigation. This is a flat-rate contractor role: $2,500–$4,000/month regardless of hours worked, with the workload estimated around 20 hours a week on average, though it'll vary week to week. Reports to Meredith Gittings, Director of Legal. The Role Kelvin is a Series B, fast-moving technology company, and our legal team is looking for a part-time paralegal to support our internal legal operations. This isn't a caseload-driven role; it's ongoing legal support: keeping our contract templates and playbooks current, reviewing incoming NDAs and other legal documents, and helping keep our legal files and internal policies organized and up to date. Like everyone here, you may be expected to work cross-functionally rather than staying inside a narrowly defined legal lane. Kelvin builds software that lets industrial operations, in mining, energy, manufacturing, and other continuous-process industries, act on their own real-time data through the control systems they already run, with guardrails and human oversight built in. What You'll Do Review and update Kelvin's contract templates to keep them accurate, consistent, and aligned with current legal and business requirements and changes. Create and maintain playbooks that document how common contract types and clauses should be negotiated and reviewed and keep track of commercial decisions from leadership. Review NDAs, MSAs, and other incoming legal documents from clients and prospective partners, including running redline comparisons between versions and flagging deviations from Kelvin's standard positions. Clean up and organize internal legal files and folders so documents are easy to find and version control stays clear. Review and help update internal policies, ensuring they're current and consistently formatted. Take on related ad hoc legal-administrative requests as they come up during the engagement. What We're Looking For 3+ years of paralegal experience, ideally in a corporate/in-house or transactional setting rather than litigation. Prior experience working at or with a B2B SaaS/technology company, comfortable operating in a fast-moving, cloud-based environment. Hands-on experience reviewing and redlining NDAs and other commercial contracts. Strong organizational skills: comfortable building and maintaining templates, playbooks, and a clean filing system. Clear, precise written communication and careful attention to detail. Able to work independently, prioritize a variable workload, and turn around requests reliably without daily oversight. Proactive and comfortable working cross-functionally: you'll partner closely with sales and tech, and should feel empowered to reach out directly to those teams when something comes up rather than waiting to be told. Availability to occasionally help with time-sensitive matters from our Australian office is a nice-to-have, not a requirement. Professional experience with efficient and effective AI tool use in daily workflow (e.g., Claude) to speed up drafting, review, and research. Very strong contract and document-management tool experience (e.g., Word/Google Docs redlining, shared drives, DocuSign). Paralegal certificate or equivalent practical experience a bonus. Experience with large industrial customers is a plus. How This Engagement Works This is a part-time contractor role with a fixed monthly rate rather than hourly billing. Compensation ranges from $2,500 to $4,000 per month, depending on experience and profile, and covers availability and delivery across the responsibilities outlined above. We expect the workload to average around 20 hours per week, although this may vary depending on current priorities, with some weeks being lighter and others busier. We'll check in regularly to align on upcoming work and priorities, so expectations and workload remain clear and predictable on both sides. This role reports to Meredith Gittings, Director of Legal. Next Steps Along with your application, please include a short example of a time you stepped in to support an in-house attorney or team in a small, fast-moving tech environment, what the situation was, and how you helped. A cover letter is optional; include one if you'd like, but it's not required.
