Show job description

At Settlement Agreement Solicitors, we help employees through one of the hardest moments of their working lives: losing their job. Our clients trust us at a time when they feel anxious and uncertain, and we repay that trust with warmth, professionalism and care at every step.

That care has made us the number 1 ranked law firm and employment lawyers in the UK on Trustpilot, with over 8,500 verified 5-star reviews. We're on a mission to be the world's first Utterly Brilliant law firm, and the first law firm in the world to reach 100,000 5-star reviews.

We're building our team at our new Ringwood office, and we're looking for paralegals who want a real start in law, with real clients, real responsibility from day one and a route to qualifying as a solicitor.

What we offer

  • A base salary of £30,000 to £35,000, depending on experience
  • An uncapped bonus: £10 for every 5-star Trustpilot review your clients leave, and £10 for every case rated five stars in our internal file review (£5 for four stars)
  • Growth shares: an annual, performance-related award of shares in the firm, so you share in the value you help create
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • A £1,600 a year wellbeing allowance
  • Workplace pension
  • Flexible hours: if you need to start a little later or do the school run, that's fine
  • The chance to be a founding member of our Ringwood team and grow with it
  • Hands-on experience of employment law, working alongside our solicitors every day
  • A route to qualification: for the right person, your work with us can count as SQE Qualifying Work Experience (QWE), confirmed by our solicitors

What you'll do

As a Paralegal, you'll own your clients' cases from their first enquiry through to the signed settlement agreement. You'll make sure every case moves quickly, every deadline is met, and every client feels looked after.

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Responding to new enquiries quickly and warmly, and guiding clients through onboarding
  • Reviewing settlement agreements and case documents, and preparing the key information our solicitors need to advise within our 24-hour service standard
  • Managing your caseload so that every matter keeps moving
  • Liaising with clients, solicitors, employers, HR teams and employers' solicitors to keep cases on track
  • Keeping our case management system accurate and up to date
  • Spotting problems early, solving them where you can, and escalating quickly where you can't
  • Using the AI and technology tools we've built to work faster and more accurately

Your clients will be facing redundancy or a dispute with their employer. You'll support them through a stressful time, and you can make the difference between a client leaving their job feeling defeated and leaving it feeling optimistic about what comes next.

This is a hybrid role, splitting your time between our Ringwood office and working from home. In the office, you'll work closely with colleagues; at home, you'll be connected to the whole firm by phone, messaging and video, so you'll always feel part of the team.

What you'll bring

Essential:

  • Experience in a legal, client care or case handling role, for example as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal administrator, claims handler or caseworker
  • Excellent written and spoken communication, and a warm, confident telephone manner
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce precise work
  • Good organisation: you can prioritise a busy caseload and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Confidence with technology, and typing at 40 words per minute
  • Discretion with confidential information

Desirable:

  • A law degree, or study towards one, a law conversion course or the SQE. If you're working towards qualifying as a solicitor, this role is built to help you get there
  • Experience of employment law or settlement agreements
  • Experience using case management software

Most of all, we're looking for someone who genuinely cares about clients, takes ownership, and brings a positive, can-do attitude to the team.
