About the UN Global Compact Network UK

We are a dynamic multi-stakeholder initiative, dedicated to connecting UK companies to the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest responsible business initiative. The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, rooted in UN treaties, provide a robust foundation and comprehensive framework for corporate sustainability and business action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Our mission is to champion sustainability leadership to create a world we want to live and do business in, by inspiring ambition, enabling impactful action, and collaborating to reshape the business environment for the better.

The UN Global Compact Network UK has over 900 participating companies, with a team of 31 people, and is growing quickly.

Our work is guided by the core values of the United Nations – Integrity, Respect for Diversity, and Professionalism – alongside nine additional values and behaviours of the UN Global Compact which can be found here. During a recent review, the team described our workplace as friendly, inclusive, supportive, passionate, and hard-working.

About the role

We are seeking an Outreach Coordinator to join our dynamic team

The Participant Engagement Coordinator supports the Participant Engagement (PE) Team in maximising the value UN Global Compact Network UK participants get from their membership. This includes tasks related to participants such as database management, onboarding, and delisting, while also providing dedicated support to the Outreach team in executing the marketing and activity plan. Reporting to the Growth Manager, the post-holder works closely with the PE Team Managers and the Programmes team.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Sector Knowledge: Demonstrable interest in and knowledge of corporate sustainability, or other aspects of our cause.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, adapting style to audience and ensuring mutual understanding.
  • Collaboration & Team Culture: Collaborative and team-oriented, with a willingness to support colleagues across the Participant Engagement team and wider Secretariat and contribute to an inclusive working culture.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail, with a methodical and organised approach to managing data and reporting.
  • Accountability & Proactivity: Proactive, self-directed, and accountable — able to manage workload independently, competing priorities, meet deadlines, produce accurate outputs, and flag issues in a timely way.
  • Research Skills: Demonstrable ability to identify key sources, conduct structured research, and summarise findings accurately.
  • Problem-solving Mindset: Identifies issues and analytical challenges early; takes a systematic approach to finding solutions and improving processes, looking for ways to add value beyond immediate tasks.
  • Comfort with Ambiguity: Able to work effectively under ambiguity and in less-than-perfect conditions — making progress with incomplete information and evolving priorities and identifying opportunities to improve ways of working in line with organisational goals.
  • Outreach & Marketing Support Experience: Comfortable supporting outreach and marketing activity alongside core participant engagement tasks.

Key Responsibilities - after onboarding, we will expect you to:

Participant Engagement Support & Events

  • Support the Participant Engagement team in administrative or participant-related tasks such as providing members background information before calls or engagement, support engagement reports creation, managing the PE inbox amongst others.
  • Support the organisation and running of Participant Engagement events such as our Members' Breakfasts, New Joiner Briefings, Annual Kick-off event, and Annual General Meeting, as well as attending external events of the Network to represent the organisation. This may include preparing slides, drafting social media posts, writing reports, and updating the UK Networks' newsletters.
  • Research and build lists of potential attendees, whether existing members or prospects, to support event planning and outreach.

Database Management & Participant Lifecycle

  • Manage the applications process for new participants, including reviewing submissions, carrying out due diligence checks, liaising with applicants on any follow-up requirements, and progressing successful applications through to onboarding.
  • Lead the onboarding of new participants, including creating and sending social media banners and communications packs, and setting up accurate records from the outset.
  • Update Salesforce and other participant databases from information received via the PE inbox, onboarding, withdrawals, etc, including participant status, contact details, and activity records, and flagging any gaps or inconsistencies to help maintain clean, reliable data.
  • Manage the delisting process for participants who withdraw or no longer meet participation requirements, including updating records and notifying relevant stakeholders.

Outreach & Marketing Support

  • Provide support to the Outreach team on executing the marketing and activity plan, working closely with the Growth Manager, including preparing outreach content and campaign materials such as supporting copy and social media posts.
  • Help keep messaging and materials aligned between the PE Team and the Outreach function across new joiner and existing participant communications.

Participant Engagement Team Collaboration

  • Participate regularly in weekly Participant Engagement team meetings and share updates that are relevant to other colleagues.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team practices by sharing constructive feedback and suggesting practical solutions, including identifying and proposing improvements to processes so they are less manual.

What we offer:

  • Hybrid working – After onboarding, a minimum of two days in the office per week, working from home up to 3 days per week.
  • Flexible working, once discussed with your line manager. Our core/active hours are 10 am to 4 pm.
  • Compressed hours of 9-day fortnights.
  • Employee Assistance Programme for you and your immediate family.
  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, increasing with length of service.
  • Three additional days off between Christmas and New Year, offered at the organisation’s discretion.
  • Menstruation and menopause leave.
  • Three additional days off for mission-related volunteering or sustainable travel.
