Partner Solutions Engineer, Commercial

As a Partner Solutions Engineer, you will drive technical enablement for Shopify partners through both remote and in-real-life (IRL) engagements, equipping them with the knowledge to deliver compelling solutions. By removing technical obstacles, you will empower partners to provide highly effective services on our platform for high-growth, high-volume merchants, ultimately accelerating revenue expansion. In this role, you will establish deep relationships and serve as a trusted advisor to our partner ecosystem in the Greater China region. Your efforts will enable partners' technical and sales teams to lead sophisticated, solutions-oriented discussions regarding the Shopify platform, resulting in robust tech stacks that directly resolve merchants' business challenges. This position is a regional, remote role dedicated to supporting partners from China Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and involves approximately 20% travel for on-site partner visits. Key Responsibilities Assess and evaluate the technical capabilities of partners across different Shopify products. Design and lead technical enablement programs to enhance the solution capabilities of specific partner groups. Drive a transformative evolution by empowering partners to utilize Shopify’s AI innovations. Keep partners informed and trained on new product releases (like Shopify Editions), enabling them to build and deploy appropriate merchant solutions. Develop structured skill roadmaps in scale to optimize and accelerate the onboarding journey for new agency partners. Clearly communicate Shopify's competitive advantage to partners. Champion Shopify's platform by actively presenting and participating at various partner events. Participate in co-marketing and case studies aimed at growing the partners’ sales pipeline. Act as the primary technical expert for partner RFPs during sales cycles, ensuring their proposed architectures align with merchants' core business requirements. Expedite the post-sale deployment phase by overseeing partner service delivery, ensuring the successful realization of merchant GMV. Work cross-functionally with internal Shopify teams to elevate the partner-merchant experience while continually building internal technical knowledge. Requirements Proven track record in enterprise-level commerce, technical agency environments, or partner engineering, with a focus on diverse industry verticals. Capability to evangelize and synchronize partners with the broader Shopify commerce strategy and upcoming product milestones. Exceptional consultative skills with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and bridge gaps between technical and business teams. Hands-on development proficiency, enabling meaningful engagement with engineering teams through languages like Liquid, JavaScript, and Ruby. Deep understanding of Shopify's API ecosystem, providing expert guidance on custom builds and optimal architectural implementation paths. Practical experience designing and building storefronts using Shopify's proprietary Liquid templating language. Working knowledge of modern development workflows, including version control systems like Git and collaborative GitHub environments. A solutions-first approach to problem-solving, supporting partners in architecting creative, high-impact merchant experiences. Commercial acumen to translate technical requirements into tangible business outcomes and market opportunities. Passion for technical enablement and a commitment to helping others master the Shopify platform. Adaptability to excel in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, delivering results both independently and as a collaborative team member. Full professional proficiency or native fluency in English and Mandarin or Cantonese. Background in China-based cross-border trade or export-oriented ecommerce platforms is highly desirable. Prior experience in Pre-sales or Solution Architecture within the commerce sector is a significant advantage.
