HelpScript, an Expion Health company, makes specialty medications more affordable. Specialty therapies can carry significant out-of-pocket costs that put treatment out of reach. We connect members with manufacturer copay assistance programs, guide them through the enrollment process, and work alongside providers and pharmacies so members can start, and stay on, the medications they need.
The Role
We are looking for a Patient Advocate to be the knowledgeable, compassionate guide members rely on when navigating copay assistance for their specialty medications. This is a role for someone who can make a complicated process feel simple, keep many cases moving at once, and bring care to every member interaction.
You'll identify the right manufacturer copay assistance program for each member, guide them through enrollment, and coordinate with providers, specialty pharmacies, and manufacturer representatives to resolve issues along the way.
If you have a pharmacy or medical billing background, enjoy solving problems for people, and take pride in getting the details right, you'll feel right at home here.
What You'll Own
- Find the right program. Identify the appropriate manufacturer copay assistance program based on each member's eligible medication.
- Guide members through enrollment. Walk eligible members through the copay assistance application process and complete enrollment workflows with speed and accuracy.
- Be the connection point. Act as the liaison between members, copay assistance programs, providers, and pharmacies to resolve issues.
- Coordinate with providers. Obtain or provide necessary information and ensure appropriate billing procedures are followed.
- Educate and inform. Help members, providers, and pharmacies understand HelpScript services and copay assistance enrollment details.
- Keep accurate records. Maintain complete, accurate documentation of member interactions and program status.
- Protect member privacy. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations in every interaction.
- Partner across teams. Collaborate with internal departments to resolve member inquiries quickly and accurately.
- Balance speed and care. Meet performance metrics and service standards while making sure every member feels supported and informed.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical or pharmacy setting.
- Pharmacy Technician certification or equivalent pharmacy experience.
- Strong background in pharmacy billing, medical claims processing, or benefit systems.
- Working knowledge of medical and pharmacy benefit systems and copay assistance programs.
- Familiarity with Third Party Administrator (TPA) or Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), including using Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and quick-turnaround deadlines.
- Excellent verbal, written, and active listening skills, with a clear and empathetic communication style.
- A high level of integrity and discretion, including a strong commitment to HIPAA compliance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote team environment.
Bonus points for:
- Experience with specialty medications or specialty pharmacy.
- Experience working across departments and with external clients or partners.
- Strong analytical and creative thinking skills, with sound independent judgment.
- A track record of adapting quickly to changing program criteria or workflows.
- An outgoing, customer-focused personality and a genuine drive to help people.
Why HelpScript, Why Now
Specialty medication costs can keep members from starting or staying on treatment. As a Patient Advocate, you won't just process enrollments; you'll directly reduce financial barriers, improve medication adherence, and shape the experience members have when they need help most.
If helping people get the medications they need, without the financial stress, sounds like meaningful work, we want to talk.
