Patient Financial Advocate
Job Description
The Patient Financial Advocate is a key member of the Medical Financial Solutions department, dedicated to securing payment of patient balances on behalf of hospital clients. This role involves taking inbound phone calls in a fast-paced call center environment, engaging in scripted conversations with patients to collect their portion of the account. The position requires analytical skills to determine patient eligibility for additional resources to settle financial obligations.
Responsibilities
- Make and receive inbound and outbound phone calls to arrange payments for patient accounts.
- Respond to patient billing inquiries and negotiate payments and payment plans.
- Submit credit card payments and escalate complex billing issues for resolution.
- Meet or exceed daily production requirements while adhering to all applicable disclosure and collections rules and regulations.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of recent call center experience.
- Minimum of 6 months of healthcare experience, including billing, claims, or patient care.
- Proficiency in medical terminology.
- Strong customer service skills.
Additional Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with inbound calls, customer support, Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual abilities are advantageous.
- Experience in collections is beneficial.
- Experience working remotely is ideal.
Work Environment
This is a 100% remote position requiring reliable internet connectivity (50mbps) and a private place to take calls. The company provides all necessary equipment, including two screens. Employees living within 30 miles of a company location are required to work in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays. Training is conducted Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM MST, with daily shifts post-training ranging from 8 AM to 6 PM MST.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albuquerque, NM.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
