About Sunrise Group
Sunrise Group is building the future of sleep health by combining breakthrough technology with expert care. We started in 2015 with a straightforward idea: sleep diagnosis should happen in the comfort of your own home, not in a hospital. To make that possible, we created a first-of-its-kind chin sensor, carefully validated through clinical research, reviewed by leading sleep experts, and cleared by the FDA.
Since then, Sunrise Group has grown from a single innovation into a complete sleep health company. We now design advanced diagnostic and treatment solutions, and we deliver care directly to patients through Dreem Health, our digital sleep clinic. By serving patients in all 50 states with reimbursed care, we are making sleep treatment more accessible, more personal, and much simpler than it has ever been.
Your Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Associate to join our remote Revenue Cycle Management team. This role is responsible for the full billing cycle — from accurate code assignment and claim submission through payment posting, denial resolution, and collections — with a focus on clean claims, timely reimbursement, and compliance.
What You’ll Do
- Account balance inquiries. Respond to patient inquiries about account balances, statements, and charges by phone, email, and secure messaging, resolving concerns accurately and promptly.
- Insurance coverage questions. Explain insurance coverage and benefits in plain language, including deductibles, copays, coinsurance, explanations of benefits, and patient responsibility for services and equipment.
- Patient payment collection. Collect patient payments, including balances due, and follow up on outstanding patient accounts with a courteous, solution-focused approach.
- Payment plan management. Set up, document, and monitor payment plans, follow up on missed or late payments, and adjust plans according to company policy.
- Medical records requests. Process medical records requests from patients and authorized parties, verifying authorization and following HIPAA requirements.
- Cross-team collaboration. Partner with the billing, accounts receivable, and other revenue cycle teams to research and resolve account issues, and escalate complex cases appropriately.
- Documentation. Document every patient interaction clearly and completely in our billing system so any team member can pick up an account.
- Continuous improvement. Identify recurring questions or trends in patient inquiries and share feedback to help improve statements, communications, and processes.
- Compliance. Protect patient privacy and follow all HIPAA and company compliance standards.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting.
- Experience in Sleep Medicine and/or DME billing strongly preferred.
- Experience in collections, including patient balance collections.
- Experience in a customer service role, including handling sensitive or frustrated callers with patience and professionalism.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to research and resolve account issues independently.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, and follow-ups.
- Comfort with technology, including billing and practice management systems, email, and spreadsheets, and the ability to learn new tools quickly.
- Good people skills: empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help patients.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy requirements.
- Genuine interest in sleep, health, and helping people better understand and improve their well-being.
- Spanish-speaking (bilingual English/Spanish) is a plus
