To support our mission, we are looking for a Payables Accountant (Accountant III-IV) to join the Payables and Payroll Department. This position is located at 101 E. 15th St, Austin, TX and is eligible for hybrid telework schedule. You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission. WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Accountant III-IV performs moderately complex to complex (journey-level) accounting work. Work involves assisting in the preparation of financial statements, records, documents and reports. May specialize in some phase of accounting work such as client services. Works under general supervision, with limited to moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: - Prepare vouchers for payment in the PeopleSoft Financial system. . Distribute and notify client service (RehabWorks) invoices. - Perform detailed research of accounting entries and reports in systems/subsystems, such as PeopleSoft, ReHabWorks (Client Management System), and USAS. -Run queries, analyze data to determine and complete corrective actions. - Prepare and/or process accounting adjustments, direct deposit returns, returned warrants and warrant cancellations in a timely manner. - Provide quality customer service and technical assistance to both internal and external clients of TWC . Respond to inquiries, resolving payment issues, via email and telephonic communications. - May assist other Payable accountants in the processing of payments. - Perform other duties as assigned. YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: - Experience in accounting and financial operations. - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field is, though full time auditing or accounting experience may be substituted. - Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); of policies and procedures; and of laws and regulations pertaining to payable operations - Experience in statewide accounting and financial systems is highly preferred, i.e., PeopleSoft , and Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS). - Skills in using business software (spreadsheets, word processing packages, and databases) YOU QUALIFY WITH: -Accountant III: Graduation from an accredited college or university. -Accountant IV: Graduation from an accredited college or university, plus six months of full-time experience in accounting, finance, or a related field. -Both Levels: One year of full-time experience in accounting finance, or a related field may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of education. A license to practice as a certified public accountant in Texas will satisfy the education and/or experience requirements.
