Got a homelab humming away in the corner? Spend your weekends on CTFs, side projects or pulling apart whatever tech you can get your hands on? You might be exactly who we’re looking for.
SYBER is hiring a Pen Tester who’s genuinely curious about how things work, and how they break. We take security seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
The role
- Permanent, fully remote, anywhere in Australia (Melbourne preferred).
- Occasional on-site work at client offices when an engagement calls for it.
- Flexible working arrangements that actually work around your life.
What you’ll be doing
- Testing web application, APIs, mobile apps , internal and external networks, and whatever interesting tech our clients throw at us next
- Getting hands-on with AI security, from poking at LLM-powered apps to finding creative ways to make chatbots say things they really shouldn’t
- Working alongside our senior red teamers and picking up tradecraft from people who do this at the sharp end
- Tackling a broad mix of clients, from enterprise to government, so no two weeks look the same
- Writing clear reports and helping clients understand what matters and how to fix it
You’ll fit right in if you…
- Have solid hands-on pentesting skills and some real-world experience (around 2–4 years, but skills matter more than time served)
- Run your own lab, tinker with side projects, play CTFs, or generally can’t leave tech alone outside work hours
- Love digging into how things work and aren’t satisfied until you understand them
- Can explain technical findings in plain language to non-technical people
- Have enterprise or government testing experience (a bonus, not a must)
- Certs are welcome, but not required. We’d rather see what you can do.
What we offer
- Genuine flexibility
- An industry-leading team that loves talking shop
- A wide variety of interesting work, so you’ll keep learning
The important bit
You must be based in Australia with full working rights.
How to apply
Hit apply and send through your CV. We’d also love to hear about your lab, a side project, or a favourite find (suitably redacted, of course).
