Description Pennwood Cyber Charter School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Pennsylvania-certified Special Education Teacher to deliver specially designed instruction to K–12 students in a virtual learning environment. This remote position requires living in Pennsylvania or within a one-day drive of the state, with priority consideration for Pennsylvania residents . The Special Education Teacher manages Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), delivers instruction through virtual platforms, and collaborates closely with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to support student success and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities Provide instructional guidance, virtual teaching, and general strategies for students receiving direct and/or indirect services. Develop, write, implement, and monitor IEPs and 504 Plans. Track and report student progress; complete report cards; conduct parent/guardian conferences. Collaborate regularly with IEP teams, including parents/guardians, related service providers, and school staff. Deliver direct services via web-conferencing tools as required by the IEP. Schedule and facilitate virtual IEP meetings in compliance with required timelines. Participate in the Student Support Team to identify and support struggling learners. Implement program modifications and accommodations as outlined in students’ plans. Coordinate with related service providers per IEP requirements. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the Learning Management System and special education compliance software. Assist with state testing logistics and implementation of IEP-based accommodations. Perform other duties as assigned. Capabilities Student & Family Focused: Builds strong, trust-based relationships with students, families, and staff to support engagement and outcomes. Effective Communicator: Demonstrates clear, professional verbal and written communication skills; comfortable facilitating virtual meetings and producing high-quality documentation. Collaborative & Flexible: Works effectively in a virtual, matrixed environment; fosters positive teamwork and adapts to changing needs. Accountable & Organized: Meets deadlines, maintains compliance, and follows through on responsibilities. Tech-Savvy: Proficient in virtual tools, able to troubleshoot, and comfortable adopting new technologies. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related education field. Valid Pennsylvania PK–12 Special Education certification. Strong understanding of IDEA and experience with special education procedures. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and learning management systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment. Must reside in Pennsylvania or within a one-day drive of the state (Pennsylvania residents will receive priority consideration). Ability to work occasional evening hours to meet student/family needs. Willingness to travel occasionally for events such as state testing or school-wide gatherings (may require overnight travel). Successful completion of all background checks and compliance requirements.
