1-800-GOT-JUNK? is seeking a dynamic People Business Partner (12-Month Maternity Leave Contract) to act as a core strategic ally to departmental leaders and a collaborative driver within our People team. This role is responsible for diagnosing organizational needs, cultivating high-performing talent, and empowering leadership through pragmatic, people-first solutions that align directly with overarching business targets.

Operating with a balance of strategic vision and roll-up-your-sleeves execution, this opportunity is built for a proactive People partner who thrives in an agile, culture-driven hybrid environment centered around genuine connection and shared success.

A Day in the Life

  • Be a trusted strategic partner. Build strong relationships with leaders, understand their business priorities, and provide proactive people guidance that helps them achieve their goals.
  • Turn business challenges into people solutions. Identify opportunities, anticipate risks, challenge assumptions, and develop practical, creative solutions to complex organizational and people challenges.
  • Coach and influence leaders. Equip leaders to navigate difficult conversations, manage performance, build engaged teams, and make confident, fair, and effective people decisions.
  • Drive organizational effectiveness. Partner with leaders on workforce planning, organizational design, talent assessments, succession planning, and capability development to ensure teams are structured and equipped for future success.
  • Navigate complex employee relations. Provide sound, timely guidance on sensitive employee matters, balancing business needs, employee experience, risk mitigation, and employment legislation.
  • Champion performance and talent development. Help leaders identify, develop, recognize, and retain talent while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous feedback, and high performance.
  • Lead through change. Support leaders in navigating organizational changes, helping them anticipate people impacts, build thoughtful change plans, and guide their teams through uncertainty.
  • Use data to drive better decisions. Leverage people metrics, trends, and business insights to identify emerging challenges, uncover opportunities, and recommend meaningful actions.
  • Shape the employee experience. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, People Operations, and other People teams to design and deliver programs, policies, and solutions that attract, engage, and retain great people.
  • Bring a balanced perspective. Apply sound judgment and knowledge of employment legislation, compensation practices, and company policies to deliver solutions that are both people-focused and commercially practical.
  • Continuously improve how we work. Challenge the status quo, identify opportunities to simplify and improve people processes, and contribute to building scalable, effective HR practices that make a real difference.

Above all, you'll be someone who doesn't just respond to people's challenges — you see what's coming, ask the right questions, and help leaders build stronger teams and a better business.

What You Bring

  • Progressive HR / People experience in an advisory or business partnering capacity, with a strong background in strategic advisory and employee relations.
  • Solid working knowledge of employment legislation with the ability to deliver solutions that are people-focused and commercially practical.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly establish trust and credibility with business leaders, leveraging strong rapport to effectively coach, influence, and guide confident people decisions.
  • Experience supporting organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, talent development, and change management.
  • Strong analytical skills to leverage people metrics, business insights, and data to solve complex organizational challenges.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with strong problem-solving skills and sound business judgment.
