Show job description

Are you an experienced People Business Partner who thrives in an operational environment and enjoys working closely with leaders to turn business challenges into practical people solutions?

At Glacier, we are looking for a People Business Partner – Operations to partner with our manufacturing and operational leadership teams. In this role, you will help strengthen leadership capability, shape our workforce for the future and support our sites through change, while contributing to an engaged and high-performing culture.

Your role

As People Business Partner – Operations, you will be a trusted partner to our Site Directors and operational leadership teams. You will combine strategic thinking with a pragmatic, hands-on approach, ensuring that people considerations are embedded in operational decision-making.

Your focus will be on business partnering, leadership capability, workforce planning, organisational change, employee relations and engagement. You will work closely with our People Operations team and Centres of Excellence, who provide support in areas such as HR administration, payroll, recruitment coordination and employee lifecycle processes.

What will you do?

Partner with our operational leaders

  • Build strong partnerships with Site Directors and Operations leadership teams.

  • Translate business priorities into effective people plans.

  • Act as a trusted adviser and sparring partner on leadership, organisational and people decisions.

  • Support organisational effectiveness, workforce productivity and capability building.

Develop leadership capability

  • Coach leaders on performance management, employee relations, engagement, organisational change and leadership effectiveness.

  • Strengthen management capability and accountability across our operational teams.

  • Help leaders build engaged and high-performing teams.

Shape our future workforce

  • Partner with leaders on workforce planning, organisational design and future capability requirements.

  • Support talent reviews, succession planning and development plans for key operational talent.

  • Identify and address risks related to skills shortages, retention and workforce sustainability.

Lead the people side of change

  • Take the lead on the people aspects of organisational change, including restructures, consultations, role redesign and integration activities.

  • Ensure changes are implemented in line with local legislation and Glacier principles.

  • Work closely with Legal, Operations and People Operations where needed.

Support employee relations, culture and engagement

  • Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters.

  • Help leaders manage people-related risks while finding pragmatic business solutions.

  • Drive engagement, inclusion and leadership effectiveness across operational teams.

  • Support initiatives that strengthen our One Glacier culture.

  • Use people data and insights to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement.

What are we looking for?

You are an experienced HR or People professional who understands the realities of an operational environment. You know how to build credibility with senior leaders while remaining close enough to the business to turn strategy into action.

Ideally, you bring:

  • Significant experience as an HR Business Partner, People Business Partner or in a comparable senior People role.

  • Experience within manufacturing, operations, supply chain, FMCG, food production, industrial or logistics environments, or another similarly operational setting.

  • Experience partnering with senior operational leaders.

  • Strong expertise in employee relations and change management.

  • Demonstrated experience in organisational design and workforce planning.

  • A commercially minded approach, with the ability to balance business requirements and people priorities.

  • Experience working across different countries and cultures.

What makes you successful?

You are:

  • Pragmatic and commercially focused.

  • A credible and confident adviser.

  • Comfortable constructively challenging senior leaders.

  • A natural relationship builder with strong influencing skills.

  • Hands-on and action oriented.

  • Resilient and comfortable working in a fast-changing environment.

Most importantly, you believe that strong people leadership sits with the business. Rather than taking ownership away from our managers, you coach, challenge and enable them to take responsibility for their teams and people decisions.

Why join Glacier?

This is an opportunity to have a visible impact across Glacier's operational organisation. You will work closely with senior operational and People leaders and play an important role in strengthening leadership capability, preparing our workforce for the future and supporting the continued development of our One Glacier culture. The role reports to the Chief People Officer.
