Bring your HR expertise to a purpose-led organisation where your work directly supports our people and the Australian communities we serve. As a People Partner, you will work shoulder-to-shoulder with senior leaders to translate business goals into meaningful people outcomes.
It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.
We call ourselves "the better big bank" because we are big enough to offer you every professional opportunity, but not so big that we lose the close-knit, collaborative community feel we are known for.
We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and safe space for our team members of all genders and sexual orientations through inclusive hiring, support for life's challenges, and diverse workplace design. When you work with us, you will know your day-to-day efforts are genuinely helping our customers and communities prosper.
Evolving Our People & Culture Team
As we evolve our People & Culture team to better support the future of Bendigo Bank and the communities we serve, we are pleased to introduce five newly created People Partner roles.
This evolution represents a significant investment in our HR partnering capabilities and outlines a clear, structured career pathway within our national team. Whether you are currently in a P&C generalist space looking to step into business partnering, seeking to transition your skills from a specialist HR area, or bringing a strong HR foundation from another corporate sector, this is a unique developmental opportunity to scale your career alongside highly supportive senior leaders.
About the Role
Reporting directly to a Senior People Partner within a dedicated business portfolio, you will play an essential role in connecting our national people strategy to everyday business outcomes.
Working shoulder-to-shoulder with your Senior People Partner, you will support business leaders across cyclical people rhythms and strategic priorities. This position is intentionally designed as a career pathway, offering structured mentoring and hands-on exposure to prepare you for future succession into Senior People Partner roles across the Bank.
If you are coming from an operational or generalist background, moving into partnering means shifting from transactional task delivery to becoming a trusted advisor and sounding board for business leaders.
As a People Partner, you’ll get to:
- Support Core Cyclical People Processes: Partner with leaders on annual remuneration reviews, talent mapping, capability assessments, succession planning, and performance and development cycles.
- Provide Practical People Advisory: Work with managers to interpret people data, address capability gaps, support team engagement, and successfully navigate change.
- Champion Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Drive grassroots engagement for key bank-wide initiatives, including Belonging at Ben, our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), accessibility commitments, and well-being initiatives.
- Bridge Strategy and Operations: Collaborate closely with our Centres of Excellence (including Talent Acquisition, Organisational Capability, Workplace Relations, and People Operations) to deliver seamless, tailored people solutions.
What You Will Bring
We recognise that exceptional business partners come from diverse career paths. Rather than requiring extensive prior partnering experience, we are looking for individuals with strong foundational HR knowledge, high emotional intelligence, and a genuine appetite to learn and grow.
We encourage you to apply if you have:
- A solid background within People & Culture (such as Advisory, Talent Acquisition, People Operations, L&D/Capability, or Workplace Relations) or an operational leadership role underpinned by a strong HR foundation.
- A sound understanding of core HR principles, modern Australian employment practices, and people lifecycles.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the capability to listen deeply, build trust, and communicate with clarity and empathy.
- Natural curiosity about how a business operates, alongside an interest in translating commercial goals into practical people outcomes.
- Enthusiasm for developing your partnering skills, backed by a proactive approach to continuous learning and feedback.
Where You Will Be Based
These roles can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, or Bendigo working in a hybrid model. To find a rhythm that works best for you and your team, we maintain a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader. We firmly believe that coming into the office some of the time is the best way to learn, stay connected, and collaborate effectively—especially for key activities like team days, 1:1s, and town halls.
Why Us?
- Want big impact that matters? Here, you’ll know your work directly benefits the customers and communities we all serve.
- Want to be more than just a number? Join a team that truly values you – and that gets more and more diverse every day.
- Want career opportunity AND flexibility? Achieve both here, where we know that balance and progression go hand in hand.
You’ll also get access to a great range of benefits, including:
- Hybrid work? Flexible hours? A compressed work week? Our flexible work options are designed to suit your life.
- Health and wellbeing support, including discounted gym memberships, private health insurance options, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family members.
We’re making better, bigger. And we’ll get there with you.
Could you be one of our new People Partners? Now’s the time to set your sights higher – on the future you deserve.
