Position: Performance Engineer (x86 Optimization)

Location: Remote | Portugal

We are looking for a Performance Engineer with strong systems knowledge and hands‑on experience in low‑level optimization, CPU architecture, and C++ development. You will work closely with SAP and Intel teams to analyze performance bottlenecks, identify optimization opportunities, and drive improvements across platforms.

What You Will Do

• Perform explorative performance analysis and root‑cause investigation in SAP HANA.
• Identify Intel x86‑specific optimization opportunities.
• Compare performance results across hardware platforms.
• Implement PoC code changes to validate improvements.
• Build and extend internal analysis tools.
• Collaborate directly with Intel’s on‑site engineering teams.

Required Skills

• Strong ability to analyze and debug complex performance issues.
• Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Excellent understanding of Intel x86 architecture and CPU internals.
• Proven experience using profiling tools such as perf and VTune.
• Strong C++ programming skills.
• Working proficiency in English (verbal and written).

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of RDBMS or database internals.
• Experience with aarch64 platform.
• Python programming experience.
