Performance Insight Lead

At National Grid, we keep people connected and society moving. As we continue to drive the energy transition and build a cleaner, more sustainable future, we're looking for talented people who can help turn data into meaningful insight.

We're recruiting a Performance Insight Lead to join our Asset Operations team. This role is based in Warwick, and we encourage a hybrid working approach, although we’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

In this role, you'll help shape how performance is measured, understood and improved across the business. Working within a collaborative team, you'll lead the development of performance metrics, KPIs and reporting solutions that support informed decision-making at all levels.

This is more than creating dashboards. You'll partner with stakeholders to understand business challenges, identify what success looks like and translate complex data into actionable insights. Using Power BI, AI-powered analytics and modern reporting techniques, you'll deliver solutions that help teams identify trends, manage risks, uncover opportunities and drive continuous improvement.

If you're passionate about data, performance and making a real impact, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Asset Operations while supporting the delivery of a reliable and resilient energy network.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, develop and maintain impactful Power BI dashboards and visual reports that enable data-driven decision making.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand performance objectives, reporting requirements and desired outcomes.
  • Use AI-powered tools and techniques to create insightful dashboards that support data-driven decision-making.
  • Challenge and refine requirements to ensure the right metrics, KPIs and measures are being developed.
  • Partner with Data and Governance teams to ensure reporting solutions are built on trusted, high-quality data.
  • Develop and embed performance frameworks that support strategic goals across Asset Operations.
  • Analyse trends, patterns and anomalies to identify insights, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitate performance reviews and discussions, helping teams understand the story behind the data and identify appropriate actions.

What You’ll Have:

You're passionate about using data to solve business problems and have the confidence to engage, influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels. Rather than simply taking a requirement and building a report, you're someone who seeks to understand the wider business need, asks the right questions and recommends the most effective solution.

You'll combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills, enabling you to turn complex data into meaningful insight that drives action.

You'll also have:

  • Experience developing and maintaining high-impact dashboards and visual analytics using Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, data visualisation principles and relational databases.
  • Experience gathering, interpreting and refining business requirements to develop effective reporting solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, challenge constructively and balance competing priorities across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, risks and opportunities from data.
  • Experience facilitating discussions that help teams understand performance and drive improvement actions.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of asset management principles (IAM) and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working with data platforms such as Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Exposure to asset-intensive industries such as Utilities, Energy or Infrastructure.
  • Experience using AI-powered tools or advanced analytics techniques to generate business insights.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At National Grid, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace for everyone. So, if you’re excited about this role but your experience or qualifications don’t match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right person for our growing business in this role or another one.

What You'll Get:

£50,600 - £54,879 dependent on experience.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance also a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to several flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
