Role Overview The Personal Lines Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing a book of personal lines business — including auto, home, umbrella, and related products. You will serve as the primary point of contact for your clients, handle renewals and endorsements, identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities, and actively develop new business to meet monthly revenue targets. Sales Goals & Compensation New business compensation is paid as a commission on top of your base salary, creating a direct link between your production and your earnings. There is no cap — the more you write, the more you earn. To support your success, the agency provides: Inbound leads generated through agency marketing channels Access to a broad market of top-rated personal lines carriers Quoting tools, agency management system support, and marketing materials Mentorship and training to help you build and refine your sales process Key Responsibilities Book of Business Management Serve as the primary service contact for personal lines clients Conduct proactive renewal reviews — especially with top-tier clients — to ensure adequate coverage and identify gaps Process endorsements, coverage changes, cancellations, and reinstatements accurately and promptly Respond to client inquiries in a timely, professional manner and resolve issues with carriers Maintain accurate, up-to-date client records in the agency management system Client Retention & Relationship Management Build long-term relationships that drive loyalty, referrals, and multi-policy households Proactively communicate with clients ahead of renewals to review their needs and prevent unexpected lapses Educate clients on coverage options, policy changes, and the value of working with an independent agency Partner with other team members to identify cross-sell opportunities across the agency Qualifications Active Property & Casualty license required Minimum 3–5 years of experience in personal lines insurance, preferably at an independent agency Familiarity with agency management system: Applied Epic (e.g. HawkSoft, AMS360, or similar) Experience with comparative raters and national quoting platforms Strong knowledge of personal auto, homeowners, umbrella, and related products Insurance designations (CISR, CPCU, CIC) are a plus Experience working with luxury and high net worth individuals preferred (Home and Auto) Required Skills & Attributes Professional Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage a high volume of client interactions Proficiency with technology and agency software Sound understanding of underwriting and coverage guidelines Personal Attributes: Self-motivated with a proactive, sales-oriented mindset Client-first attitude with genuine care for outcomes Problem-solver who stays calm under pressure Team player who contributes to a positive agency culture Adaptable and eager to grow with the agency Performance Metrics Success in this role is measured by the following key indicators: Policy retention rate on managed book of business Quote-to-bind conversion rate Average premium per household Client satisfaction/reviews Cross-sell ratio (policies per household) Renewal retention rate Work Environment & Benefits Full-time position — Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST Remote, hybrid, or in-office options available depending on candidate and role fit Collaborative team culture that celebrates individual and shared wins Health, dental, and vision insurance IRA retirement plan Paid vacation and flexible time off Ongoing professional development support, including designation study assistance Clear path for career advancement as the agency grows How to Apply Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter describing your personal lines experience and what you would bring to our team.
