Overview
Maintains Personal Lines quality assurance program, processes, and review methodologies designed to evaluate underwriting quality and compliance with company standards. Conducts risk-based quality assurance reviews to identify trends, recurring issues, operational gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Partners with Underwriting, Line of Business, Product, Compliance, and other business stakeholders to provide insight into underwriting quality, support resolution of identified issues, and enhance the effectiveness and quality of underwriting outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conducts risk-based quality assurance reviews of Personal Lines underwriting transactions, accounts, and targeted business activities to evaluate underwriting quality, adherence to company standards, regulatory requirements, and established underwriting procedures.
- Participates in the development and execution of the Quality Assurance Plan by identifying and prioritizing reviews based on emerging trends, quality concerns, business priorities, regulatory risks, and other areas requiring enhanced oversight.
- Aggregates, analyzes, and interprets review results to identify recurring issues, emerging trends, operational gaps, control weaknesses, and opportunities to improve underwriting quality and business outcomes.
- Performs root cause analysis to determine underlying drivers of quality concerns and collaboartes with appropriate stakeholders to develop actionable recommendations to address systemic issues and strengthen underwriting effectiveness.
- Prepares and delivers quality assurance reports, dashboards, summaries, presentations, and other management reporting that communicate review results, trends, key findings, and improvement opportunities to underwriting leadership and business partners.
- Partners with Underwriting, Line of Business, Product, Compliance, and other stakeholders to investigate suspected issues, validate findings, and support the development, implementation, and monitoring of corrective actions and process improvements.
- Provides clear, timely, and effective communication regarding review results, recommendations, improvement initiatives, and progress toward resolution of identified issues.
- May serve as a subject matter expert regarding underwriting guidelines, eligibility requirements, rating, coverage, regulatory requirements, workflows, and system functionality to provide consultation and support related to training opportunities, coaching needs, job aid development, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participates in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of quality assurance methodologies, review criteria, evaluation frameworks, reporting standards, and calibration processes to promote consistent, objective, and risk-based evaluation of underwriting quality.
- Participates in governance, calibration, and continuous improvement activities designed to promote consistency, accuracy, transparency, and adherence to underwriting standards and quality expectations.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Requirements
• Understanding of Personal Lines insurance regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including collaboration, ability to influence and presentation abilities.
• Strong problem solving and problem analysis skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
Education and Experience
• College degree in risk management, business, finance, or a related field preferred.
• Strong underwriting technical skills; 7+years of personal lines underwriting experience.
• Prior training experience preferred.
• Compliance analysis experience preferred.
