Through investment funds, separately managed accounts and customized investment solutions, PGIM helps clients pursue their long-term investment objectives worldwide. PGIM's investment businesses combine deep market expertise, global reach and specialized capabilities to serve pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, financial institutions and individual investors across global markets.

The Vice President, Tax supports PGIM's investment businesses and global investment platforms across multiple asset classes, including private credit and other alternative investments. The individual will combine strong technical tax expertise and sound business judgment with a working knowledge of tax compliance applicable to funds, partnering with investment, business, legal, finance and operations teams to develop practical tax solutions, support implementation and help ensure appropriate reporting and controls. The individual will advise on tax matters arising across PGIM, support the development and implementation of investment products and structures, and coordinate with tax professionals embedded within PGIM businesses and Prudential's broader tax organization. The role will also oversee recurring compliance and reporting activities and review related work prepared by internal teams and external service providers.

The current employee work arrangement for this position is hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

    • Advise on tax-efficient ownership and fund investment structures, including partnerships, REITs, feeder vehicles, rated vehicles, management structures, sidecars and other domestic and international investment vehicles.
    • Monitor tax developments affecting PGIM businesses and communicate business implications and recommended actions to stakeholders.
    • Support business, legal, product and finance teams on material tax matters, including the development and implementation of new investment products and structures, and coordinate with external advisors as appropriate.
    • Advise on special projects involving tax-sensitive transactions, restructurings and regulatory developments.
  • Business and Investment Platform Support
    • Partner with PGIM investment businesses to identify and resolve tax issues arising in the implementation and ongoing operation of funds, investment programs and strategic initiatives.
    • Provide guidance regarding investor-related tax issues, including ECI, UBTI, withholding tax and treaty considerations.
    • Coordinate with tax professionals embedded within PGIM businesses across fixed income, real estate, private credit, multi-asset and alternative investment platforms to promote consistent tax positions and efficient delivery of tax advice across the organization.
    • Advise on the tax requirements and operational controls needed to implement and maintain tax-sensitive investment products, structures and business initiatives.
    • Participate in business planning and early-stage concept development discussions, helping evaluate the tax implications and feasibility of potential new funds, products, investment strategies and market opportunities.
    • Review fund documentation, management agreements and other documents from a tax perspective.
    • Support business teams in responding to investor, counterparty and stakeholder tax inquiries.
    • Participate in investor diligence discussions and support tax-related aspects of investor communications.
    • Collaborate with business, legal, finance and operations teams to translate tax advice into governance, documentation, reporting and operational requirements for tax-sensitive structures and initiatives.
  • Carry, Co-Investment and Specialized Tax Programs
    • Serve as the tax lead for employee co-investment and carried interest programs across PGIM businesses.
    • Advise on the structuring, implementation and ongoing operation of carry and co-investment vehicles, as well as phantom carry and co-investment arrangements.
    • Oversee tax reporting, partnership allocations and related matters affecting employee-investor programs.
    • Coordinate with finance teams, service providers and external advisors regarding implementation and ongoing administration.
    • Evaluate the tax consequences of changes to existing carry, co-investment and employee-investor arrangements, including changes in participants, allocations, investments, local law and governing terms.
    • Support global carry and co-investment programs and develop a working knowledge of foreign tax considerations affecting those structures.
  • Additional Tax Compliance, Reporting and Special Projects
    • Coordinate and oversee recurring tax compliance processes affecting PGIM funds and related entities, including partnership tax compliance, investor reporting, withholding, information reporting, filing calendars and related deliverables.
    • Review and advise on partnership tax returns, Schedules K-1, allocation workpapers, withholding calculations, state and local filing positions and partner reporting prepared by service providers; identify issues and recommend corrections or further analysis.

What you will bring:

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex tax issues, evaluate alternative structures and deliver clear, commercially practical recommendations to senior business and non-tax stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment in balancing technical tax considerations with business objectives, legal and regulatory requirements, and implementation constraints.
  • Strong relationship-management and project-leadership skills, including experience working across business, legal, finance and operations teams and coordinating external advisors.
  • Experience interacting directly with senior business leaders, investment professionals and product development teams.

What will set you apart:

  • CPA, master's degree in taxation, JD, LL.M. or equivalent advanced tax qualification preferred.
  • Experience with cross-border investment structures and international investor considerations.
  • Familiarity with carry, co-investment and employee-investor programs.

The individual in this position is expected to serve as a senior tax professional supporting PGIM's investment businesses. The role requires the ability to analyze complex tax issues, advise on investment products and structures, work closely with business and investment teams, and translate technical conclusions into practical recommendations and implementation steps. The individual will also provide appropriate oversight of recurring compliance and reporting responsibilities and review tax work prepared by service providers.

Success in the role requires technical excellence, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, strong project and stakeholder management skills, and a practical approach to problem solving.
