We’re seeking an experienced Architect / Technical Lead to help lead the architecture and modernization of our SaaS platform. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on architectural strategy, system design, technical guidance, and mentoring senior engineers.
You’ll work closely with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business objectives into technical solutions, establish engineering standards, guide architectural decisions, and support the security, scalability, and long-term maintainability of the platform.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the overall technical architecture, with a focus on scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Translate business requirements into technical strategy, architecture, and system designs.
- Lead complex architecture initiatives, proof-of-concepts, and technology evaluations.
- Provide technical direction and guidance to engineering teams on architecture and implementation.
- Establish architectural standards, coding guidelines, and engineering best practices.
- Drive data architecture, database design, data modeling, and ETL/data pipeline strategies.
- Provide architectural guidance across backend systems, APIs, frontend technologies, integrations, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps.
- Partner with DevOps/SRE teams on containerization, CI/CD, observability, deployments, and operational practices.
- Identify technical debt, architectural risks, and performance issues and drive improvements.
- Ensure systems support applicable security, privacy, compliance, accessibility, and reliability requirements.
- Lead architecture and design reviews and mentor engineers through technical decision-making.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership on technical roadmaps and technology strategy.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI/ML, where they can provide measurable business value.
- Support engineering hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development.
- Complete required compliance and HIPAA training.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and career development.
- Partner with Engineering leadership on architecture planning and cross-functional initiatives.
- Review technical proposals for alignment with the long-term platform strategy.
- Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, engineering quality, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 3–4+ years designing and architecting enterprise-scale applications.
- Strong hands-on experience with PHP 8.x and Symfony — required.
- Experience with Docker, Nginx, MongoDB, Linux, AWS, and modern backend technologies.
- Strong understanding of:
- Object-Oriented Programming and Design (OOP)
- Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
- REST API design
- Microservices
- Distributed systems
- Performance optimization
- Experience leading architecture reviews and providing technical direction across engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps, containerization, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with data architecture, database design, data modeling, and ETL/data pipeline patterns.
- Ability to provide architectural guidance across backend systems, APIs, integrations, and frontend technologies.
- Strong understanding of Agile development, TDD, and iterative delivery.
- Knowledge of system reliability, observability, security, and operational best practices.
- Experience working in compliance-driven environments; SOC 2 experience preferred.
- Interest in evaluating emerging technologies and practical AI/ML applications.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
