The SPLC is seeking a Planned Giving Engagement Officer who is passionate about social justice! The Planned Giving Engagement Officer (PGEO) is a frontline fundraiser who builds and strengthens relationships with donors considering future estate gifts to SPLC. The PGEO cultivates and stewards "Partners for the Future," guiding donors through planned giving options, supporting annual and estate IRA gifts and gifts of securities, coordinating with Development Operations and brokerage partners, and managing reporting and analysis to enhance donor engagement and planned giving outcomes. Position will make 4 or more trips annually for donor meetings and participation in cultivation and stewardship events (up to 25% travel). Who You Are Relationship Builder. Builds trust and cultivates long-term donor relationships through personalized phone outreach, donor meetings, and ongoing stewardship, demonstrating genuine interest in donors' values, philanthropic goals, and connection to the organization's mission. Analytical & Strategic. Develops and executes strategic donor engagement plans by leveraging CRM data and stewardship insights to track relationships, measure outreach effectiveness, identify opportunities, and cultivate long-term donor commitment to planned giving. Collaborative. Collaborates effectively across fundraising, finance, marketing, leadership, and external advisors to share donor insights, align engagement strategies, and advance coordinated philanthropic goals. Compassionate & Empathetic. Navigates legacy giving and other sensitive donor conversations with empathy, professionalism, and authenticity, responding thoughtfully to significant life events while building trust and lasting relationships. Patient & Persistent. Demonstrates patience and persistence by consistently stewarding donor relationships, honoring commitments, and cultivating long-term engagement that supports future legacy giving. Mission, Vision & Values Alignment . Demonstrates an understanding of and a commitment to SPLC's mission, vision and values. What You'll Do Conduct personalized outreach to donors interested in legacy giving and documents all interactions in the CRM. Manage the scheduling and fulfillment of planned giving and stewardship communications, including but not limited to, donor welcome materials, recognition correspondence, and stock gift acknowledgments. Contribute to the execution of planned giving marketing campaigns across direct mail, email, and digital channels while maintaining data quality standards. Process planned giving campaign data in the CRM, ensuring accurate donor coding, and prepares stock gift files. Monitor campaign and donor engagement outcomes, initiate appropriate follow-up, and deliver reporting on the range of PG programs including, but not limited to, gifts of stock and qualified charitable distributions. Maintain current knowledge of planned giving practices and philanthropic trends through ongoing professional development. Respond to inquiries from donors and non-donors received through in-person meetings, phone, mail, web forms, emails and other communication channels. Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification. Minimum Qualifications We are committed to equitable hiring practices, therefore you must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role. Minimum of three (3) years frontline fundraising experience, to include planned giving; and High School Diploma or GED. Compensation & Benefits This is an exempt role and the minimum starting salary is $69,702 annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Where & How You'll Work This role has the following work designation options: Local Remote: Will work remotely, but is expected to attend work-related activities that occur at the SPLC offices or in the states in which the SPLC operates. Telework: Will work at an SPLC office at least three days per week and may work two days per week from an alternative work location. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Planned Giving. Other Special Considerations This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions. This position will make 4 or more trips annually for donor meetings and participation in cultivation and stewardship events (up to 25% travel). This position is represented by the Washington-Baltimore News Guild.
