Your work will include multi-modal transportation and safety plans, technical analyses, and other products that guide mobility and infrastructure investment.
This position is well-suited for a mid-career to senior level planner who is eager to strengthen technical skills, gain hands-on public engagement experience, and grow within a collaborative, feedback-driven environment. Recognized by Zweig Group as the #1 firm to work for in 2025, Verdantas offers a strong foundation for building a meaningful and rewarding career.
What You'll Do:
- Perform research and data analysis for transportation planning projects, including multimodal, active transportation, and safety-focused studies.
- Assist with the preparation of transportation plans, active transportation plans, and safety action plans (including Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A), and Vision Zero-style plans) for municipal, regional, and state clients.
- Occasionally support comprehensive, land use, or other planning efforts as needed.
- Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team of planners, engineers, and GIS analysts.
- Conduct GIS analysis and develop maps, graphics, and layouts for planning documents and presentations, such as crash mapping, network screening, connectivity, accessibility, and project prioritization.
- Plan, support, and attend public engagement activities on behalf of the firm and its clients, including public meetings, workshops, stakeholder outreach, and other in-person or virtual events. This role includes approximately 20% travel, with occasional evening meetings or events.
- Prepare presentation materials, agendas, and meeting summaries, and facilitate steering meetings.
- Participate in site visits, field data collection, and safety audits to support planning and safety analysis.
- Assist senior staff with technical analysis, report preparation, and coordination with government and transportation agency clients, and help track budgets, schedules, and deliverables across multiple projects.
- Support the preparation of grant applications and post-award reporting, including quarterly progress reports and related funding or compliance documentation (e.g., federal and state transportation funding programs).
What You'll Bring:
- Master's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Geography/GIS, or a related field (preferred); or a bachelor’s degree in city and Regional Planning, Transportation, Urban Planning, Geography, Public Policy, or a related field with 2+ years of professional transportation planning experience.

- Experience using ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Online for mapping and data analysis; experience with crash datasets or safety analysis is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud or InDesign is a plus.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly when explaining transportation planning concepts to the public.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize technical, crash, and demographic data, including U.S. Census data, to inform planning recommendations.
- Understanding of federal and state transportation planning guidelines and funding programs (e.g., FHWA safety guidance and Proven Safety Countermeasures, SS4A and HSIP funding, state DOT processes) is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally/regionally for meetings, fieldwork, and events.
- AICP certification or interest in pursuing AICP certification is preferred.
