Love the art of financial planning, but not sure the traditional advisor path is where you want to spend your career? Savant Wealth Management is looking for a Planning Strategist to be the go-to planning expert for our high-net-worth clients and the advisory teams who serve them. In this advanced advice role, you’ll proactively formulate, present, and implement sophisticated planning strategies, partnering closely with our Planning Team and advisors to deliver a consistent, high-caliber client experience.
And you won’t be doing it alone. You’ll be supported by our Planners, Financial Planning Associates, and technical specialists inside and outside the firm, so you can focus on what you do best: solving complex planning challenges, sharing your expertise, and helping shape the future of a fully integrated planning practice.
In this role, you can expect to focus in the following areas:
  • Leading proactive planning opportunities for high-net-worth clients with advanced planning needs and delivering recommendations alongside each client’s advisory team
  • Serving as a trusted planning resource for advisors and clients by fielding technical questions and actively participating in client meetings and calls
  • Helping onboard new high-net-worth clients through a seamless discovery process, and contributing to prospect planning meetings and new relationship development
  • Coordinating follow-up planning analyses and delivering high-quality, profitable planning engagements in line with Savant’s service model and “The Savant Way”
  • Sharing your expertise beyond the client meeting by writing planning blogs and marketing content, contributing to presentations, and hosting webinars with our marketing team
  • Mentoring and developing planning team members through hands-on guidance and collaborative team engagement
  • Helping review and enhance the policies and procedures behind a fully integrated planning practice
  • Setting quarterly and annual OKRs in partnership with the Director of Financial Planning
A couple things to note about our Planning Strategist position:
  • We’re open to candidates across the U.S., with a preference for those located near one of Savant’s offices
  • Hybrid work model; fully remote arrangements may be considered for the right candidate
  • Full-time position, Monday through Friday, during standard business hours
  • Ideal for an experienced planner who has worked with wealthy or private clients and wants to make a meaningful impact as a planning specialist, rather than follow the traditional advisor path

Qualifications

The Planning Strategist position typically requires the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience delivering comprehensive financial planning services, including at least 3 years working with high-net-worth individuals
  • Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional in good standing (required)
  • 2–3 years of personal tax return review experience (preferred)
  • Specialty certification in a relevant planning area, ideally tax-focused, such as CPA (ideal), Tax Planning Certified Professional® (TPCP®), or Enrolled Agent (EA), or pursuit of one within one year of hire
  • Strong financial planning, tax, and wealth management acumen, with the judgment to anticipate client needs and make clear recommendations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex planning and tax concepts to clients both in writing and verbally
  • A client-first, collaborative, growth-minded approach, with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as financial planning and tax planning software
What Sets Savant Apart
  • Collaborative, integrated model across advisory, tax, and planning—no silos
  • Growth-oriented firm, offering meaningful opportunities for career development and long-term impact
  • Values-driven culture, grounded in excellence, integrity, lifelong learning, respect, growth, and servant leadership
  • Majority employee-owned, giving our team a shared stake in our long-term success
