Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Plant Fitter / Service Engineer. The position involves servicing, maintaining, and repairing pelleting and associated plant equipment at customer sites, including mechanical inspections, fault diagnosis, and replacement of worn or damaged components. The role includes planning and carrying out scheduled maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines, completing service reports, and advising customers on performance optimization and safe operation. The Plant Fitter / Service Engineer will collaborate with internal teams and on-site maintenance staff, follow health and safety procedures, and may occasionally support emergency call-outs or breakdowns. Travel to client locations will be required, with work often carried out independently and sometimes as part of a small team.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical fitting and maintenance skills, including experience with industrial machinery, rotating equipment, and mechanical fault finding.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment, with the ability to read technical drawings and manufacturer manuals.
• Background in servicing or engineering support for process equipment, ideally within pelleting, feed, biomass, or related heavy industry environments.
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations, safe working practices, and risk assessments in industrial settings.
• Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with on-site maintenance teams and internal colleagues.
• Capability to work independently in a remote, field-based role, managing time, travel, and service schedules efficiently.
• Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline) or substantial practical experience.
• Full valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites across the region; flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours work if required.
• Experience with planned preventive maintenance programs and basic reporting or documentation of service activities.
